As a Special Education Teacher Assistant you will be responsible for
Working with the Lead Teacher in planning and managing for the success of a special education classroom.
Supporting the creation of challenging, engaging, and universally designed lessons that support learner variability.
Supporting the use of the UDL Framework to design and implement curriculum standards-based units that include differentiated instruction.
Supporting the planning and teaching of students for the core subjects of reading, math, science, social studies.
Supporting students during small group instruction
Regularly collect data to track students progress in program areas of curriculum and students IEPs.
Providing support to students during specials classes (Gardening, Music, Spanish, PE, Art)
Assessing student progress regularly and using data to support instruction.
Collaborating with the Lead Teacher, special education service providers (speech, PT,OT), ELL teacher and other Assistant Teacher(s) or Teaching Fellow(s).
Maintaining the classroom grade book by inputting at least 3-4 grades per week.
Maintaining the daily attendance records for the classroom.
Facilitating Morning Meeting.
Organizing student breakfast and lunch. Maintaining breakfast and lunch count.
Providing support during recess to ensure students are safe.
Assisting with maintaining current bulletin boards (in class and hallway).
Creating a classroom culture and environment that develops and nurtures the emotional, cognitive and social abilities of the students, implementing Responsive Classroom techniques.
Participating in Parent Teacher Conferences, contacting parents as needed/requested and providing translation as necessary.
Responding to students behavior appropriately and successfully.
Engaging parents and families in their students learning and acting as an ambassador for the school in the community.
Contributing productively to the school as a whole.
Attending and participating in school events outside of regular school hours

SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary range: $32,000-$52,000/Per Year
Staff can also add up to an additional $2000.00 dollars to their salary by successfully passing the language proficiency assessment. $1000.00 for spoken language proficiency and $1000.00 for written language proficiency in Spanish or Amharic.
Salary is based on educational level, certification(s), and years of experience. The successful candidate will be contracted yearly. Employment will be renewed according to evaluations and staff interest. Position Overview
The Assistant Director for Special Education Program Improvement - Technical Assistance is a leadership role responsible for supervising the onboarding and development of new Special Education Program supervisors and taking a leadership role in overseeing and supporting priorities that are central to the educational benefit for students with disabilities, improvement efforts in the Special Education division, and more specifically the program improvement team, and overseeing and putting structures in place for robust technical assistance to drive these efforts. This position plays a pivotal role to ensure that local education agencies (LEAs) have the necessary technical assistance structures and resources in place to comply with federal and state special education requirements in regard to special education services and that large scale improvement efforts (i.e., statewide IEP, coordination across agencies for transition, early childhood programs) have strong implementation and technical assistance and professional development plans in place. Additionally, the Assistant Director collaborates across teams to enhance Washington state's guidance and technical assistance resources, focusing on student outcomes and ensuring comprehensive and accountable special education programming from ages P-22.
Key Responsibilities
This position will serve as the Assistant Director of Special Education focusing on Technical Assistance in the Program Improvement unit within the OSPI Special Education division. This position will:
* Lead the Inclusionary Practices Technical Assistance Network (IPTN): Direct the design, coordination, and delivery of TA that supports districts and ESDs in implementing sustainable, equity-driven inclusive practices.
* Supervisory Leadership and Staff Development: Provide direct supervision for Program Improvement staff, including onboarding new team members, setting clear expectations, and fostering professional growth. Lead training and mentoring efforts to build staff expertise in technical assistance delivery, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with division priorities.
* Develop and Publish Statewide Guidance: Create and disseminate clear, accessible, and actionable guidance documents, tools, and resources that help districts and partners interpret and implement state and federal special education policy.
* Provide Targeted Technical Assistance: Respond to district and ESD requests for TA, aligning supports to compliance needs, root cause analysis, and systemic improvement strategies that improve student outcomes.
* Coordinate Division Priorities in TA: Ensure TA efforts reflect and advance the division's goals, including the statewide IEP initiative, inclusive early childhood services, monitoring modernization, and equitable identification and services for students with disabilities.
* Support Continuous Improvement: Use data and evidence to evaluate the effectiveness of TA and guidance, identify emerging needs, and adjust strategies to maximize impact for students and families.
* Build Capacity and Collaboration: Partner with internal OSPI divisions, ESDs, districts, families, and community organizations to strengthen the statewide infrastructure for inclusive practices and technical assistance delivery.
* Policy Interpretation and Communication: Translate complex state and federal regulations into understandable language and practical resources for districts, ESDs, families, and community partners.
Additional Leadership Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:
* Master's degree or higher in Special Education, Child Development, Educational Leadership or education related field.
* At least three (3) years of administrative experience in special education, at the local, state, or federal level.

The annual compensation for the position is $102,547- $114,577per year and depends upon experience, educational background and qualifications. General Responsibilities: Provides in-person classroom support to students in an alternative setting
Essential Duties:

JOB SUMMARY:
Manassas Park City Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Instructional Assistant - Adaptive Special Education Curriculum, to support the academic and social-emotional growth of students with special needs. Under the direction of a certified special education teacher, the instructional assistant will help implement instructional plans, monitor student progress, and foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment. This position plays a vital role in ensuring students receive the individualized support they need to thrive.
REQUISITE EDUCATION AND SKILLS:
High school diploma or equivalency required.
Previous experience working with groups of children desired.
Ability to work with various ability levels of student.

Performs all duties deemed necessary by the School Board and Superintendent for the efficient and successful operation of the school system.
Confers with teachers on a regular basis to assist in evaluating special education student progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.
Implements academic instruction taught by a special education teacher for individuals or small groups. Implement behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior challenges or other special conditions for assisting in meeting special education students' needs and providing a consistent environment.
Support students with daily personal care tasks such as toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance, ensuring their comfort and dignity are always maintained.
Instructs special education students (e.g. math groups, science experiments, reading, behavioral skills, daily living skills, writing, verbal skills, etc.). under the supervision of the special education teacher.
Maintains instructional materials and/or student files/records (e.g. adapting instructional materials, student files, checking papers, attendance, audiovisual equipment, setting up art/science projects, etc.).
Monitors special education students (e.g. lunch, playground, during life enrichment activities, etc.).
Performs record keeping (daily data on instruction and/or behavior) and clerical functions (e.g. correcting papers, copying, instructional materials, etc.) to support the special education teacher.
Carries out instructional plans as designated by the classroom teacher and the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Assists in the preparation of instructional materials.
Assists classroom teacher in maintaining an appropriate level of classroom behavior and control.
Help students individually and in small groups on assignments and activities.
Supervises students in the absence of the classroom teacher.
Performs clerical and instructional duties as assigned by the classroom teacher and/or building principal.
Assists teacher with maintenance of instructional materials, equipment and bulletin boards.
Attends in-service and workshop meetings as assigned by the building principal and Director of Special Programs.
Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the principal, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
