About the Role:

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED AND Preschool Child Development Associate certificate within twelve months AND 12 months of qualified teaching experience in a certified child care center or comparable group care program in the care of preschool age children.
Ability to relate positively to children and adults.
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work and relate positively with children and adults.
Consistent attendance is essential for both the smooth operation of our programs as well as fostering a sense of stability for the children and families we serve.
Physical Demands, Background, Driving and Training Requirements:
May work outdoors intermittently with exposure to typical Oregon weather. There may be frequent interruptions, working alone, evening or weekend work, working long hours. Working in a close environment with active children.
Must be able to pick up and carry 40 pounds. Must be able to bend, kneel and stand for long lengths of time. In addition, staff must be able to get up and down from playing on the floor with children.
Ability to pass a background check.
Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
Clean driving record to drive company vehicles.

Schedule Expectations:

These teacher leader positions are designed to provide support and assistance toward meeting the performance plan goals at the assigned school. This position may take on different specific responsibilities which are identified in the next section. Individuals that hold a teacher leader position will help facilitate each area listed below, and will focus on areas that capitalize upon personal areas of strength while providing input and collaboration with the principal and building teams. In addition, the teacher leader will have training opportunities to further develop their leadership skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a member of the principal's school leadership team.
Lead to create a positive school culture.
Collaboratively plan for 2-3 PLC meetings per month.
Be willing to demonstrate and share best teaching practices with others. This may include but is not limited to best instructional strategies, model PLCs, and teaching demonstrations.
Participate in leadership development opportunities including PLC training, PLC planning, instructional analysis, and collaborative walk through/demonstrations lessons (scrub ins) as calendared.

Effectively communicate with colleagues and other stakeholders about school leadership meetings, school performance plan goals & strategies for achievement.
Lead PLCs: Plan meetings with administrative support; keep track of PLC work and data, organize and post assessments, calendars, data, progress, etc.
Attend meetings, trainings, and events outside of the regular contract day both in the assigned school and at the district level (see attached calendar).
Report progress of the team back to the overseeing administrator and provide data for the school and department scorecards and SLGs.

• Consistent attendance is essential for both the smooth operation of our programs as well as fostering a sense of stability for the children and families we serve.
Physical Demands, Background, Driving and Training Requirements:
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and behavior guidance principles; certificate or degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, or 1+ years of experience in childcare, or step 6+ on Oregon Registry
• May work outdoors intermittently with exposure to typical Oregon weather conditions. There may be frequent interruptions, working alone, evening or weekend work, working long hours. Working in a close environment with active children.
• Adherence to Relief Nursery Standards, daycare licensing regulations, USDA guidelines, and other applicable standards to ensure a safe and nurturing learning space for children.
• Must be able to pick up and carry 40 pounds. Must be able to bend, kneel and stand for long lengths of time. In addition, staff must be able to get up and down from playing on the floor with children.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation
• Clean driving record to drive company vehicles.
• Within 60 days of employment must be Pediatric CPR and First aid Certified, have a current food handlers' card, and show proof of completing “Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect,” “Childcare Health & Safety,” “Safe Sleep,” and “Prevention is Better than Treatment” courses as required by Oregon Office of Childcare.
Salary Range + Benefits:
This is a part-time, flexible, on-call position with needed availability Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 4:30pm. The payrate is $21.88/hour. To protect confidentiality at MtStar there is a standard procedure requiring at least a 2-year separation between being a program participant and serving as a staff member or volunteer within the organization. All staff and volunteer roles are at the discretion of MountainStar. All positions at MountainStar Family Relief Nursery are contingent upon the availability of funding.
