POSITION SUMMARY
The Special Education teacher reports to the Yu Ming Charter School Director of Student Support Services. The role of the Special Education Teacher is to improve students' success in basic academics (reading, language and/or math, etc.) through implementing Yu Ming approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments; providing a safe and optimal learning environment and providing feedback to students, classroom teachers, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Ensure that the student experiences gains through the academic goals outlined both within their IEPs and by Yu Ming standards
Evaluate students' abilities in basic academics for the purpose of assisting other personnel in the support of learning disorders, development of remediation plans and/or student progress
Provide one-to-one instruction, direct services and push in or pull out intervention as required by IEP
Administer assessment, interpreting results to determine learners' strengths and areas of need for IEPs
Provide accommodations and/or modifications for assignments and testing as determined by the IEP team
Perform a variety of specialized tasks: draft and write professional and compliant IEPs, maintain records, meet schedule and compliance deadlines

Yu Ming Charter School is a non-profit, tuition-free network of public schools located in Oakland and San Leandro and open to all residents of California. RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach 3 50-minute English blocks to one grade-level and one 1-hour intervention block each day
Teach Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons and facilitate self directed learning (SDL) time
Implement Common Core State Standards-aligned and Science of Reading-aligned curriculum and lessons that build and integrate rigorous and student-centered learning experiences in English in partnership with Mandarin Chinese co-teacher leading other subjects (i.e. Chinese language arts, mathematics, social science, science)
Personalize learning by teaching effectively to the diversity of students in the classroom and ensuring student mastery of academic skills
Assess and analyze student achievement using a variety of means to collect and report on data, make strategic planning decisions, and tailor instruction to meet individual student needs
Use educational technology to support instruction, develop and deliver content and skill benchmarks, organize instructional materials, and track student progress
Establish a strong classroom culture for learning that is positive, inclusive, restorative, and contributes to the broader school community
Provide access and ensure results for all students (i.e. above and below grade level proficiency, with IEP's, English Learners) and integrate needed differentiation, interventions, accommodations, and extensions
Actively collaborate with all colleagues, contribute pedagogical knowledge and expertise, and provide shared stewardship of the school
Plan and pursue a program of personal professional growth and participate in both internal and external professional development activities
Build meaningful relationships and communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and other school stakeholders
Maintain a high-level of professionalism including meeting deadlines and commitments to self and the community
May participate in summer program teaching or professional learning or curriculum development
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
B.A. or B.S.
Appropriate California Credential (or transferable out of state equivalency)
Preferred
M.A. or M.S. in Education or Subject Area
Three years experience teaching in relevant grade(s) or subject
Experience with Google apps and other educational technology
Experience with one or more of the following: project-based learning, social-emotional learning, personalized learning, service learning, interdisciplinary curriculum
Understanding of the Common Core State Standards
Superb interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, colleagues and families
Flexibility and adaptability to change; ability to work in a dynamic, creative and start-up learning environment

TIME COMMITMENT
180-day school year, 8 student-free professional development days for collaboration with colleagues. Common building hours are Monday 8:00-3:30 and Tuesday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm.

Creative Arts is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Paraeducator to provide direct support to a student with specific needs in our K-8 program. The ideal candidate will work closely with the student, teachers, and support staff to ensure the student's safety, emotional well-being, and academic progress. Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one support to a student with specific educational and behavioral needs.
Implement the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and safety plan under the guidance of the classroom teacher and support team.
Assist the student in accessing the curriculum, completing assignments, and participating in classroom activities.
Monitor and support the student's emotional and behavioral needs, employing de-escalation strategies as necessary.
