POSITION GOAL:
The Early Intervention Teaching Assistant III works as a part of the team providing classroom and/or home instruction to children with developmental delays.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY/SUPERVISION:
The Early Intervention Teaching Assistant III spends the majority of time in direct contact with children, in either individual or small group settings. Some work may be performed independently in a child's home. Working under the direction of an Early Intervention Specialist, the Early Intervention Teaching Assistant III implements Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) objectives designed to remediate delays in areas of motor, cognitive, self-help, social and language development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide small group instruction in socialization, motor, cognitive, self-help and language development.
Provide individualized instruction in cognitive, self-help, motor, social and language development.
Accurately record data on children's progress on IFSP objectives daily, in accordance with IFSPs.

Under the direction of a therapist, prepare materials for and implement specialized motor and communication programs (e.g., phonology group and motor groups).

Plan, organize, and lead weekly art projects, music activities or circle time activities.
Under the direction of teacher or specialist, implement home or classroom based individualized instruction programs for young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
In the absence of the Early Intervention Associate, act as designated lead assistant in the preschool or toddler classroom.

Summary: Assists teachers in the instructional setting, emphasizing providing direct contact with students to help facilitate learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists teacher in the instructional setting.
Assists teacher in maintaining classroom discipline using appropriate methods for children with and without disabilities.
Organizes and manages student work under teacher direction.
Assists teachers in correcting and recording student work and in testing students.
Supervises class for short periods.
Assists students with daily work.
Reads aloud to students.
Assists students on computers and with various computer programs and testing programs.
Works directly with students with a variety of special needs.
Implements planned activities using teacher-designed methods and materials for individual and small student groups for instructional support.
Supervises various student activities, including the playground, cafeteria, bus loading and unloading, field trips, hallways, and other areas where students gather.
Prepares and provides clerical support to the teacher for instructional materials using various office equipment, resource materials, AV equipment, copying, faxing, etc.
Maintains accurate records and records gathered information within the scope of District policies and state and federal laws, maintaining strict confidentiality.
Obtains necessary instructional materials from a variety of sources.
Assists with toileting students who are incontinent or require assistance with catheterization or transfer. Provides other personal care needs to students, including diapering as necessary.
Administer medications within the scope of District policies and state and federal laws, including, but not limited to, diabetes management and insulin administration using an insulin pen or a non-needle injection system.
Assists with wheelchair transfers as required by student needs.
Implements Individual Education Plan (IEP) modifications at the teacher's request
Schedules and assists with IEP meetings.
Maintains competency in all position responsibilities.
Complies with all safety and work rules, policies, and procedures.
Responsible for properly utilizing, operating, and maintaining all department resources.
Provides support to other positions as needed.
Assumes additional responsibilities as appropriate with little or no supervision.

Computer Skills:
General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use database software, e-mail, internet software, spreadsheets, teaching software, and word processing software.
