Intervention Specialist Key Responsibilities:
Lesson Plan Development: Create effective lesson plans that include accommodations and consultation with general education teacher as needed. Plans should accommodate various student levels, include procedures for assessing knowledge, outline the content standards addressed, and specify the curriculum used. Adapt the general education curriculum according to needs outlined in the IEP.
Supervision of Paraprofessionals: Oversee and direct paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom. While Program Supervisors and Site Administrators will assist in supervision, it is the teacher's primary responsibility in the classroom.
Implementation of PBIS Program: Manage the classroom's Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program, including tracking behavior points, maintaining the student store, and communicating with parents/guardians.
Classroom Management: Maintain a classroom environment that prioritizes student engagement and safety, implementing the behavior plan, modifying state-adopted curriculum, and employing strategies to effectively teach students with various disabilities.
IEP Meetings and Documentation: Attend IEP meetings for students assigned to the classroom. Write updates for each student's annual IEP in coordination with the state standards, school district expectations, and enter all IEP updates (Present Levels, BIP, ITP, and Goals) into the dedicated IEP documentation system prior to the meetings. Maintain documentation on IEP goals, student academic and social growth, prepare progress reports. Ensure documentation is accessible and provided upon request in a timely manner. Ensure confidentiality of records according to district and FERPA regulations.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other staff and outside agencies to effectively educate each student.
Assistive Technology: Support implementation and use of assistive technology including, but not limited to, augmentative communication devices.
Instructional Planning: Plan instruction and design learning experiences based on data. Conduct summative assessments with each student in accordance with IEP goal reporting timelines. Administer, transfer, and interpret educational assessment data for supporting educational decision making and goal development.
Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development activities as directed by the district including teacher and all staff trainings.
Intervention Specialist Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. Valid Intervention Specialist License from the Ohio Department of Education (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Intensive (preferred))
Experience: Teaching experience with students with a variety of learning, emotional, or cognitive disabilities.
Background Check: Department of Justice/FBI Background Check (or equivalent state or national fingerprint clearance).

The InstructionalAssistant runs the classroom's daily schedule created in conjunction with the Director to ensure that students receive individual 1:1 instruction as well as group learning using the principles and procedures of Applied Behavioral Services. Treatment Room Organization: IA sets up the classroom areas such as teacher desk, independent centers and instructional area. Creates schedules and sub plans for the classroom and students. Treatment Binder is set up correctly and the room is clean and organized daily.
Safety: Maintains proper supervision of children within care at all times. Maintains a safe environment for students by ensuring children do not have access to anything that could harm or injure them. Student health and hygiene are top priority as well as teaching self help/adaptive skills.
Discrete Trial Training: Implements the procedures of Applied Behavior Analysis including completing correction procedures, teaching verbal behavior accurately, modifying instructor variables. Implements errorless learning as designed as well as prompt fading procedures.
Discrete Trial Training Part 2: Implements appropriate variable ratio schedule of work to reward, uses visuals such as schedules and first, then boards, token economy systems, reviews data daily and uses an appropriate pace of instruction
Mandatory Training: Pairs self and environment with reinforcement on a daily basis, conducts preference and reinforcer assessments, and teaches functional communication training to students
Engagement: Has a medium to high level of engagement with clients captures their motivation in order to increase skill development at a high frequency
Behavior Support Plan Implementation: Implements behavior support plans as designed including specific strategies like social extinction, therapeutic rapport, rational detachment and demonstrates professionalism, compassionate care as well as cultural competence during this time.
Administrative Job Duties: Uses professional, ABA language and privacy when discussing a client. Turns in data collection, dismissal checklist and progress reports in a timely manner. Creates materials, takes daily data and seeks input from supervisors.
Professionalism: Recognizes potential problems, presents them professionally, and suggests appropriate solutions, follows IA and all staff policies and procedures. Creates a positive working environment for all staff.
Complete all training, education, and development activities as required
Demonstrate accurate implementation of clinical and other competencies specific to the position
Provide behavioral health services following the client's treatment plan, and as qualified to do so, including but not limited to CPST and/or TBS services
