Position Overview
The 1st-5th Grade Curriculum & Program Designer will develop activities that correspond to PlayCV enrichment themes and student interests. The Curriculum & Program Designer will collaborate with team members to create after school and summer camp curriculum that deliver exciting, inclusive, and fun educational opportunities for students. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Program Design, the 1st-5th Grade Curriculum & Program Designer develops curriculum for PlayCV's elementary school students.
The majority of the work in this role will be to research activities, curate curriculum, create slide decks, produce sample projects, order & prepare supplies, and collaborate with team members in the PlayCV office. Other duties include, but are not limited to: attend training and meetings, assist with training and meetings. This role also supports program quality through site visits, feedback collection, and ongoing curriculum refinement.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage curriculum development for 1st-5th grade by creating engaging and age-appropriate activities
Conduct research and prepare age appropriate curriculum and supplies for 1st-5th enrichment activities
Draft and create curriculum slide decks through Google Slides
Draft and send daily reminders to Team Captains
Ensure all materials are aligned with educational standards and summer themes
Create Feedback Forms and review curriculum feedback from Team Captains and make adjustments as needed
Order supplies as needed
Pick-up and deliver supplies to school sites as needed
Attend all PlayCV required meetings and trainings, including bi-weekly Team Captain meetings
Assist in preparing training sessions for PlayCV staff as needed
All other tasks as assigned by the Director of Program Design
Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum 6 months of experience in curriculum development and project management
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with importance on follow up and accountability
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and with a team
Ability to adapt to evolving needs and manage unforeseen challenges with professionalism
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and engage in regular computer use
Able to lift up to 40 pounds
Experience in educational settings, particularly with 1st - 5th grade, is preferred
Conditions of Employment
Ability to obtain and maintain criminal record clearance through the Department of Justice (DOJ). The HR department must analyze DOJ/FBI live scan reports in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as fitness for the position.
