Job Description POSITION OVERVIEW: The Part-Time Youth Hockey Instructor role will support the New Jersey Devils Youth & Fan Development programs both on and off the ice. Instructors are expected to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all children in the New Jersey Devils Ball Hockey and Learn to Play Program, along with other camps, clinics and special events. Ideal candidates will be team players who are passionate, energetic, and enthusiastic about growing the game and developing the next generation of Devils fans. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE BELOW: * Creates and maintains a fun and engaging environment that fosters a love of hockey and the development of basic hockey skills. * Ability to run practices using USA Hockey's ADM, to create and implement high-quality on-ice or off-ice practice plans that are age and skill-level appropriate. * Acts as a point of contact at partner facilities for parents, coaches, and staff to rely on for accurate information. * Ensure the safety of all participants. * Maintains a high level of professionalism at all times while representing the New Jersey Devils program. * Is reliable and punctual for all assigned practices, clinics, or other assigned events. * Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: * Must possess strong communication skills with peers, parents, and players. * Demonstrate the necessary skills to create and implement a high-quality practice plan that focuses on skill development and fun using USA Hockey's American Development Model (ADM) * Must be flexible, adaptable, and resourceful. QUALIFICATIONS: * 1 to 2 years of experience coaching youth ice hockey programs. * USA Hockey coaching membership and certifications required. EQUIPMENT: * This role requires an employee to provide their own hockey equipment, including but not limited to skates, hockey stick, hockey helmet, hockey gloves, etc. WORKING CONDITIONS: * Travel Requirements: This position will travel frequently to various hockey rinks and ball hockey partners in New Jersey. * Work Environment: This position will not have a primary work location and will travel to various ice rinks throughout New Jersey. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: * Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $20/hour. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
