Position Summary
The UIC School of Public Health is seeking two full-time instructional faculty to support our newly developed, fully online, asynchronous Master of Public Health (MPH) Generalist Concentration and online, asynchronous Public Health Foundations Certificate Program. Courses are taught in 8-week terms, and faculty are expected to teach 7-8 courses per calendar year, including practicum and capstone teaching/advising. Responsibilities include course development, teaching, student supervision/advising of capstone projects, and participation in concentration-, divisional-, and/or School-level service. At least one position will be responsible for helping students locate and be placed in applied practice experiences (experiential learning sites). Faculty will be at the rank of Lecturer or Instructor (or Senior Lecturer/Instructor) and must meet the following minimum qualifications based on rank.

* At least 2 years of prior experience teaching public health courses at the graduate level.

* Proven experience teaching in an online environment.

* Familiarity and demonstrated experience with developing and teaching MPH courses aligned with the foundational knowledge, foundational competency, and/or concentration competency items from the Council for Education in Public Health (CEPH).
* Experience advising students for public health field experiences and/or capstone projects.
* Received a degree from a CEPH-accredited school or program of public health.
* Experience teaching/advising health professions students (e.g., MD, PharmD, DMD, DNP).
* Proximity to the Chicago area to enable working with UIC instructional designers, in our media development studio, on course material development, student meetings, and college-level service.

POSITION SUMMARY
An adjunct community college instructor is an instructor hired for one semester to teach one or more courses for which he/she is qualified to teach. Workweek Schedule dependent upon assigned classes. Salaries are dependent upon education and semesters taught at MCC per the MCC Adjunct Faculty Agreement 24/25. This division is home to the following: Psychology MCC instructors are higher education professionals who champion student learning. They engage and inspire students, applying innovative teaching and learning pedagogies to reach a variety of learners. They assess student learning to ensure student success, staying abreast of current and emerging trends in the discipline. Our instructors collaborate within the College as discipline experts, helping the College to reach its strategic goals through active participation in college committees and by promoting the College to future students throughout our community.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Including but are not limited to:
* Teach courses as assigned by the College
* Available to teach daytime, evening, or weekend classes, as needed
* Available for student conferences either before or after class, and by college email if necessary
* Develop syllabus using MCC syllabus template
* Work cooperatively within the department, the division, and throughout the College in striving for educational excellence
* Conduct regular assessment of student learning
* Maintain and submit accurate student and course-related paperwork and data needed for college purposes in a timely fashion
* Document and report attendance daily and maintain and submit accurate attendance records weekly
* Submit grade reports electronically by the required date
* Utilize a variety of pedagogical techniques to meet the diverse needs of our student population
* Utilize computer-based instruction and databases when necessary
Required Qualifications
* Course specific minimum qualifications are approved annually by the Board of Trustees and are available in all Academic Division Offices.
* Demonstrated teaching experience is preferred.
* Commitment to the mission of the community college, and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds.
* Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

* Master's Degree in a Physical Science (Chemistry, Physics Etc.) - OR - Master's Degree and 18 Graduate Semester Hours in Physical Science/Chemistry
* Teaching experience preferred - either higher education or high school levels
* Knowledge of Brightspace Learning Management System or similar Learning Management System, preferred
* Prior experience with online teaching (via Zoom) and/or online teaching certification is strongly preferred.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse group of staff and students required
* Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population is desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
Salary Range: $800 - 943 Per Contact Hour
The rate paid is in accordance with City Colleges approved salary scale.
