The Marysville School District seeks a Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) to join a two-instructor team for its successful Navy Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (NJROTC) program. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated and highly motivated professional to collaborate with an experienced Naval Science Instructor (NSI) and oversee a distinguished unit. The program, established in 1995, has a strong track record of excellence, consistently achieving the "Distinguished Unit with honors" designation. Salary: Compensation pays above Navy minimum (per Marysville Education Association Negotiated Salary Schedule).
Qualifications
Applicants must be a retired Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard officer certified by the Navy for the SNSI position in grades W-2 through O-6.
Must be able to collaborate effectively as part of a two-instructor team, with the current NSI being a highly knowledgeable retired Navy Chief Petty Officer with 13 years of experience at the school.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, is required.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction and Mentoring: Teach the Naval Science curriculum and instruct cadets in military drill, providing mentorship and counseling to students.
Program Management: Serve as an integral member of the instructional team, sharing administrative and leadership duties.
Cadet Activities: Supervise and travel with cadets to support numerous extracurricular teams, including Armed and Unarmed Drill, Color Guards, Academic, Physical Fitness, Air Rifle, Orienteering, Cyber Patriots, and Drones.
Event Support: Work before and after school and on some weekends to support cadet activities, competitions, school functions, and community events.
Program Outreach: Promote and support a district program that serves more than 140 cadets from three different high schools.

As a Mastery-Based Learning school: All teachers will be expected to implement culturally relevant pedagogy and competency-based practices. Teachers will be expected to design their instruction, assessment, and grading to reflect competency-based learning using rubric-style feedback loops. All assessments will be designed in reference to a set of common learning indicators and scoring criteria.
Qualifications: Valid Washington State Teacher CTE teaching certificate or be highly experienced in the knowledge and occupation skills of the CTE program to be certified. A total of 6,000 hours of experience is needed. 2,000 hours must be occupational industry experience (nonteaching). You may use up to 4,000 hours of teaching experience in the related Career and Technical Education specialty program area(s). If any of the 2,000 hours is more than six years old, 300 hours of industry experience is needed in the past two years.

About the Department
The Electrical and Computer Engineering department is the newest department in the WWU College of Science and Engineering. Originally a program within the Engineering and Design Department, we became a standalone department in response to growing student and industry demand and timed with a move to the newly constructed state-of-the-art Kaiser Borsari Hall. The new building will advance our commitment to student-centered learning and provide research and development space for faculty and student projects. The department offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate degree and is launching a new master's program in Electrical and Computer Engineering in Fall 2025.

Adjunct salaries will be determined according to the current negotiated salary schedules. Effective July 1, 2025, A 5 credit (55 hour) per course compensation range is $3,851.10 to $4,795,45, depending on type of course. Courses range from 3-8 credits.
Benefits: The following benefits are in accordance with the Bellingham Education Association (BEA) and subject to change with each negotiated contact. Current BEA contract expires June 30, 2028. Benefits include paid sick leave. Sick leave is accrued based on their contracted FTEF multiplied by 7.5 hour for each month in active teaching status. In addition, if eligible, a 5% per hour more above the teaching rate doctoral stipend if teaching a five credit or more course (not paid on contract training, community or continuing ed courses); In addition, a 5% Longevity premium rate after teaching 1375 hours at BTC. However, adjunct faculty may be eligible for insurance benefits if they are employed at one or more Washington state public institutions of higher education for a combined total of at least 50 percent or more of a full-time workload* on a quarter-to-quarter or semester basis, and for at least two consecutive quarters. The Electrical and Computer Engineering department is the newest department in the WWU College of Science and Engineering. Salary
The anticipated starting salary range for this tenure-track assistant professor position is $95,000-$100,000, depending on qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position classification, as currently reflected among faculty in the department, is $98,000-$114,000. Salaries above the starting range are generally achieved through collectively bargained annual adjustments that accrue with continued service at WWU. North Cascades Institute seeks skilled backcountry educators to join our Youth Leadership Adventures (YLA) team. Youth Leadership Adventures are 5 and 8 day backcountry trips that connect local high school students to the natural world while engaging in conversation about leadership, identity, and climate solutions. Groups of 2 instructors and up to 10 participants canoe, backpack, camp, and complete stewardship projects in the North Cascades. YLA is designed for students who have no prior outdoor experience, and many of the trips are multilingual. YLA prioritizes accessibility with a sliding-scale tuition model for students. Students are also provided gear, food, and local transportation.
Youth Leadership Instructors plan and instruct these YLA trips, and are responsible for the physical and emotional safety of all trip participants, as well as engaging them with curriculum on topics such as community building, leadership, backcountry skills, natural history, and climate change. Instructors will participate in a few weeks of training, and then lead backcountry trips in late June through August. Dates of employment are June 3 - August 28, 2026.
Responsibilities
Program Instruction
Lead, teach, and supervise groups of 6-10 high school students during 5-8 day canoe camping and backpacking trips, alongside a co-instructor
Provide leadership in risk management before, during, and after programs.Implement and evaluate safety and emergency response procedures
Teach students skills necessary to travel and take care of themselves in the backcountry

Required Qualifications

As a Mastery-Based Learning school: All teachers will be expected to implement culturally relevant pedagogy and competency-based practices. Teachers will be expected to design their instruction, assessment, and grading to reflect competency-based learning using rubric-style feedback loops. All assessments will be designed in reference to a set of common learning indicators and scoring criteria.
Qualifications: Valid Washington State Teacher CTE teaching certificate or be highly experienced in the knowledge and occupation skills of the CTE program to be certified. A total of 6,000 hours of experience is needed. 2,000 hours must be occupational industry experience (nonteaching). You may use up to 4,000 hours of teaching experience in the related Career and Technical Education specialty program area(s). If any of the 2,000 hours is more than six years old, 300 hours of industry experience is needed in the past two years.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is confined to a work area; required to have precise control of fingers and hand movements; experiences constant interruptions and inflexible deadlines; and must be able to stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, stand for periods of time, and lift in order to assist a student with personal care. The employee is required to deal with distraught and/or angry persons and is exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.

About the Department
The Computer Science Department has 18 tenured or tenure-track faculty, 15 non-tenure track instructors, and serves upwards of 600 majors or pre-majors. During any one quarter, up to 1000 students are taking one or more computer science classes. The department offers an ABET-accredited B.S. in computer science, an M.S. degree, a B.S. degree in Data Science, a B.S. degree in Cyber Security, as well as a CS Education B.A. degree. The department is currently seeking ABET accreditation for Data Science and Cyber Security. The department has a strong history of research collaboration with other disciplines across campus such as Anthropology, Linguistics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Physics, among others, as well as collaborations with regional tech partners such as the Pacific Northwest National Laboratories (PNNL). Collaborations with the Washington Autonomous Vehicle Cluster (WAV-C), and with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), provide additional opportunities for faculty whose specialty is robotics. Responsibilities
The Nursing Program is committed to providing high quality, evidenced-based nursing education to meet the diverse and changing healthcare needs of the population and to promoting the development of qualified students prepared for the professional role of Registered Nurse at the entry level. The instructor works collaboratively with the Nursing Instructional Teams and the Lab/Simulation technologist to support faculty and students in a variety of settings. About the Department
The Computer Science Department has 18 tenured or tenure-track faculty, 15 non-tenure track instructors, and serves upwards of 600 majors or pre-majors. During any one quarter, up to 1000 students are taking one or more computer science classes. The department offers an ABET-accredited B.S. in computer science, an M.S. degree, a B.S. degree in Data Science, a B.S. degree in Cyber Security, as well as a CS Education B.A. degree. The department is currently seeking ABET accreditation for Data Science and Cyber Security. The department has a strong history of research collaboration with other disciplines across campus such as Anthropology, Linguistics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Physics, among others, as well as collaborations with regional tech partners such as the Pacific Northwest National Laboratories (PNNL). Collaborations with the Washington Autonomous Vehicle Cluster (WAV-C), and with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), provide additional opportunities for faculty whose specialty is robotics. Faculty-mentored research projects are a hallmark of CS at WWU, which the department and college support in numerous ways, including by funding student and faculty travel to academic conferences to present their co-authored publications.

The position for the 2025-2026 academic year is scheduled to start Winter quarter 2026 (January 6-March 27, 2026). Adjunct positions are part-time and quarterly. Employment is contingent upon adequate enrollment.
The class load will be from 1-2 classes each academic quarter. Classes are during the day, between 9:00am to 3:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. The morning class is scheduled from 9:00 am to 11:30 and the afternoon class from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Benefits: The following benefits are in accordance with the Bellingham Education Association (BEA) and subject to change with each negotiated contact. Current BEA contract expires June 30, 2028. Benefits include paid sick leave. Sick leave is accrued based on their contracted FTEF multiplied by 7.5 hour for each month in active teaching status. In addition, if eligible, a 5% per hour more above the teaching rate doctoral stipend if teaching a five credit or more course (not paid on contract training, community or continuing ed courses); In addition, a 5% Longevity premium rate after teaching 1375 hours at BTC.
