Job Duties and Responsibilities

FUNCTION OF THE JOB:
Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville is accepting applications for an Adjunct Instructor-Heating Ventilation Air-Conditioning Refrigeration (HVACR) Technology position. The position is part-time, Monday through Thursday, and is located at the Main Campus, 2905 Highway 231 North, Shelbyville, TN.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide individualized classroom and lab instruction to high school and adult students to prepare them for careers in HVACR.
Deliver and demonstrate instruction in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration in both classroom and lab settings.
Monitor, grade, and evaluate individual students' progress.
Maintain appropriate records and submit timely reports.
Assist in recruitment and placement of students.
Maintain good public relations with business and industry and maintain an active advisory board.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent (HiSET acceptable).
EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
Associate degree or diploma from an accredited technical training program in the related field preferred.
3+ years of approved work experience in the HVACR occupation:
Experience as an HVACR Technician in industrial, residential, and/or commercial HVAC systems, including installation and service.
Technical teaching experience a plus.
Proficient in the principles and practices of the HVACR industry.
Skilled in using industry-standard tools and equipment.
Capable of teaching students safety, tools and materials, installation, troubleshooting, and repairing various commercial and HVACR systems.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other common software programs.
Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills for effective teaching.
EPA Universal Certification preferred.
Ability to work effectively with high school and adult learners and to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with students, staff, faculty, industry partners, and the public.
Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labeling and policy a plus.
Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs. and move around the teaching area to demonstrate and perform occupational tasks (with or without accommodation).
OSHA 10 certification preferred.
