Reports To: Academic Supervisor/Workforce Development Supervisor
The Tarzana Treatment Centers College (TTCC) Instructor delivers high-quality academic education and supports student job training initiatives. This role encompasses teaching assigned academic courses, developing instructional and training materials, and providing both academic and professional development support to students. The TTCC Instructor ensures that the content of TTCC curriculum and courses remains pertinent to current behavioral and public health trends, including theories, prevention, interventions, research, and treatment. The TTCC Instructor supports the academic and professional growth of students. This is achieved through guiding, instructing, advising, and coaching students to successfully complete their assigned academic coursework and program requirements, in collaboration with Academic Supervisors and Academic Support Specialists. By fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, the TTCC Instructor significantly enhances student success and retention with TTCC. The TTCC Instructor is responsible for cultivating an environment of academic excellence, preparing students for career opportunities in the behavioral healthcare fields.
HOURS

• Maintain precise and up-to-date records of student attendance and grades, ensuring accuracy and compliance with institutional policies.
• Submit finalized course syllabi to the Academic Supervisor prior to the commencement of the course term and introduce the syllabi to students before the course begins.
• Schedule and hold office hours in both physical and electronic formats, including virtual office hours, as appropriate, to provide accessible support to students.
• Communicate regularly with students and respond to their correspondence within 24 hours to foster a supportive learning environment.
• Participate in professional development meetings to stay current with industry standards and enhance teaching effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive Learning Management Course Page to facilitate organized and efficient course delivery.
• Submit grades in the Gradebook within 7 days of assignment due dates to ensure timely feedback for students.
• Conduct live course orientations and closeout sessions to provide live instruction opportunities for students.
• Engage in the resolution of grade disputes or grievances, when necessary, to maintain fairness and integrity in the evaluation process.
• Support and contribute to other TTCC work assignments, priorities, and responsibilities as needed, including academic interventions to address issues such as failure to matriculate, at risk students, academic dishonesty, and student conduct concerns.
• Collaborate with other faculty and administrative staff to ensure cohesive program delivery and a unified approach to student education.
Support and actively contribute to the initiatives, efforts, policy and procedures of Tarzana Treatment Centers (TTC), ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals.

Peer Support Specialist (PSS) Program Instructor
1. Deliver and continuously improve the curriculum, ensuring it aligns with state policies and accreditation standards for PSS Certification Programs.
2. Teach courses that meet the 80-hour training requirements under the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Medi-Cal PSS Certification Program.
3. Provide ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness and keep up-to-updated on industry trends.
4. Implement programmatic policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and state requirements.
5. Offer specialized training opportunities for PSS students including working with specific populations such as the unhoused, justice involved individuals, and those in crisis services.

4. Maintain and expand understanding of latest evidence-based practices (EBP) and treatment modalities in SUD services.
5. Teach counselor ethics and professionalism, emphasizing the importance of ethical behavior, confidentiality, and professional conduct in the field of SUD counseling.
Field Experience Instructor (as part of SUD Counselor Certification Program)
1. Mentor students during their practicum, internship and field experiences, ensuring alignment with program requirements and the theoretical applications learned in coursework.
2. Provide individualized support and feedback to students to enhance their ethical practices, practical skills, and professional development.
3. Coordinate with agency Preceptors and Site Supervisors to ensure that practicum experiences meet accreditation standards and state requirements, maintaining the integrity of the practical training.
4. Facilitate workshops and training sessions to prepare students for their practicum placements, ensuring they are well-equipped to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-life settings.
5. Monitor and evaluate student progress during practicum placements, providing guidance and intervention as needed.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
Master/Doctoral degree in education, counseling, psychology, or a related healthcare field required. Extensive previous work experience may be substituted for academic degree requirements. Specific experience in student teaching and support, academic advising, or related roles within an educational institution preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with partner referring agencies and TTC other instructors, staff, and students a must.

Position Description
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Swim Lesson Instructor is responsible for professional instruction of all swim lessons. As a member of the Aquatics team, the Swim Lesson Instructor is also responsible for the safety of members in the pool and pool area by enforcing policies and procedures courteously and professionally. It is essential to keep certifications current and follow emergency procedures when necessary. This position requires skill in preventing accidents and maintaining a safe and nurturing aquatic environment for all members.
Qualifications
AGE: 16 years of age or older
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Candidates under the age of 18 will be required to present a valid, school-issued work permit as proof or employment eligibility.
CERTIFICATIONS: Current American Safety & Health Institute or American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS for the Professional Rescuer, Standard/Community First Aid certifications and Emergency Oxygen Administration
SKILLS: Swim Lesson Instructor candidates are to perform: 25 yards each of the six strokes (front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke and butterfly) and tread water for 2 minutes with two different kicks. Ability to swim with proficiency and endurance; ability to react appropriately and remain calm and efficient in caring for problems; knowledge of proper swimming techniques.
EXPERIENCE: Instructing swim lessons or coaching aquatic programs. YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification or ARC Water Safety Instructor; American Red Cross (ARC) or YMCA Lifeguard Training, preferred

Responsibilities
Create a welcoming and nurturing environment for all students.
Instruct classes using the YMCA of the USA swim lesson program.
Responsible for the safety of all class participants at all times.
Maintain class rosters and checks daily attendance.
Track progress of class participants using appropriate skill assessments; issue certificates/progress reports.
Communicate proper participant placement to Aquatics Director and/or parents regularly.
Prepare lesson/session plan prior to each session.
Instruct class participants on the effective use of teaching aids, flotation devices, toys and other aquatic equipment.
Understand and be able to discuss and promote all YMCA programs. Inform members of YMCA programs that will meet their changing needs and interests.
Respond to questions/concerns from members; effectively problem-solve, taking full responsibility to remedy the situation and follow through to completion.
Prevent accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, regulations governing the conduct of persons using the swimming pool.
Respond immediately to all emergency situations using proper procedures/techniques.
Know the Emergency Action Plan, understand your specific role during an emergency and carry out your responsibilities during an emergency when necessary.
