The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems at California State University San Marcos invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cybersecurity starting Spring 2026. Priority will be given to applicants who specialize in system security and AI security. However, outstanding candidates from other areas within the field of cybersecurity may also be considered.
Candidates are expected to contribute to a hands-on focused, pedagogically innovative, and fast-growing Cybersecurity degree program, and committed to quality education in Cybersecurity. CSUSM campus is located on a scenic hillside 15 miles east of the Pacific Ocean and in the San Diego North County region, an area known for its temperate climate and growing technology industries. The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems, within the College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics, is accredited by ABET and recognized by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) Education.
Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a closely related field. (ABD status considered, however, terminal degree is required at the time of hire)
Evidence of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
Strong commitment and demonstrated potential for teaching and scholarship excellence.
Ability to develop and sustain an independent research program, with evidence of publications in scholarly journals and/or conferences.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with colleagues in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated effectiveness in active learning practices in cybersecurity courses.
Interest in and/or experience with curriculum assessment and CAE designation.
Priority will be given to applicants who specialize in system security and AI security.
Preference is given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving a diverse campus community as it relates to teaching, research, and/or service.
In addition, preference will be given to applicants whose expertise will expand the education and research opportunities currently offered by the department.
Responsibilities
Teach cybersecurity courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels in a variety of modalities, including online, hybrid, and/or in-person.
Design and develop courses that expand the existing curriculum, working with industry and community partners to prepare students for the workforce.
Establish an active research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students.
Participate in activities serving the department, college, university, and community.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The department is seeking experienced, well-organized, and student-centered individuals to teach Quantitative Reasoning, Mathematics for Educators or selected 2000-level courses at the San Bernardino Campus. Quantitative Reasoning instructors may also teach lab sections designed to support student success in college level mathematics. Candidates must have at least a Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates who have prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students. Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities. To be considered to teach courses in the Mathematics for Educators sequence, preparation/experience in K-12 mathematics education and thorough familiarity with the California Common Core State Standards is strongly preferred.
This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary and all appointments are temporary. Staffing decisions are made on a rolling basis typically beginning a few months prior to the start of an academic term right up to the beginning of the academic term. Job Description
Stanbridge University is conducting a search for a qualified faculty member to provide instruction in the discipline of Fundamentals for the BSN Program. Reporting to the Director of BSN Program, the faculty member is responsible for providing subject matter expertise and delivering didactic and/or clinical instruction according to an approved course syllabus using accepted and effective teaching methods while promoting student retention and satisfaction. Faculty member is responsible for assessing student performance during the assigned course and documenting all course-related activities within the timelines established by the university.
Essential Functions:
Effectively delivers clinical and or theory instruction utilizing the course materials provided.
Effectively delivers class instruction utilizing course syllabi and materials that are provided.
Develop teaching methods and strategies to engage the students in learning and to promote clinical judgment skills in the clinical setting.
Apply the clinical judgment model and theoretical principles to evaluate students clinical competency.
Responsible for the provision of learning experiences that facilitate application and integration of theoretical principles, active participation and experience in patient care management, and observation with active participation in professional roles for nurses in the clinical setting.
Assesses student work in a timely fashion and conveys feedback to students.
Responsible for ensuring patient safety and for the schools compliance with policies established by the clinical agency.
Lead as a clinical resource managing pre- and post-conferences and engaging students to reflect on their clinical experiences.
Create and establish a professional environment that promotes student success through important characteristics of a nurse: accountability, flexibility, passion, and integrity.
Promotes student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching and engaging students in the learning process.
Manages the learning environment by keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and administering academic and attendance policies. Relates professional/life/industry experience to learning by the continuation of professional/technical skills development, the introduction of industry perspective into courses, and the active awareness of professional/industry trends and opportunities.
Participates in department meetings and shared governance committees.
Qualifications:
A master's in nursing degree from an accredited college or university which includes course work in nursing, education or administration.
Four (4) year of continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area.
Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which he/she is assigned.
Completion of at least one (1) year of experience teaching courses related to registered nursing Fundamentals or completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing preferred.
Hold a valid, active license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate.
Energetic, engaging personality appropriate for classroom and/or clinical instruction.
Candidates should have basic computer literacy and be comfortable using technology in the classroom.
Up-to-Date Immunization Records
$50-$65/hr. Salary is dependent on experience and education
