Chair, Department of Pediatric Dentistry
The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry seeks to fill the position of department chair of Pediatric Dentistry and coexisting faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate/full Clinical Professor (non-tenure) or Assistant/ Associate Professor/Professor (tenured/tenure track).
Specific position responsibilities include:
* Accountability, fiscal responsibility with transparency to department faculty and staff for daily operation which advance the goals of the department and the School of Dentistry
* Mentorship of departmental faculty and staff and support for scholarship/research endeavors of the department
* Supervision of the activities of the Department including responsibility for department curriculum, clinical operations/education of predoctoral students and quality patient care in the discipline of Pediatric Dentistry
* Responsibility for the didactic component of the departmental curriculum. This will include developing syllabi, lectures, competency examinations and evaluation of student progress.
* Management of departmental scheduling, staffing responsibilities, management of faculty/staff workloads and assignments
* Compliance with CoDA standards, UMKC, School, and campus policies and UM Collected Rules and Regulations
* Participation in the monthly Administrator's meeting with communication back to the department faculty and staff regarding important issues including those from the Administrator's meetings
* Regular meetings with the dean to advance important department, faculty, staff and student issues
* Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Applicants must have a certificate from a CODA-accredited Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry. The candidate must be board certified. A DDS/DMD or equivalent with eligibility for Missouri Dental Faculty licensure is required *****************************

Anticipated Hiring Range
Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a 12-month, benefit-eligible, full-time (1.0) faculty appointment eligible for non-tenure or tenure track and ranked promotion. One day per week may be reserved for private practice, research, development and/or other school-related activities. Rank and tenure status will be based on experience and credentials.

Upon students? arrival; the LFIs must verify weapons and credentials of each FFDO before training commences by visual inspection. The LFI is responsible for ensuring proper scoring of targets; completion of applicable administrative forms; and collection of training data. The LFI is required sign and certify qualification scores for all FFDOs attempting to qualify. Failure of an FFDO to qualify also means that an authorized FAMS Representative and/or LFI takes custody of the unloaded weapon; transport device (lockbox); credential and other equipment for return to TSA/FAMS. If no authorized FAMS representative is present to receive the equipment; the LFI shall make immediate verbal notification to the FFDO Program Office in order to make the appropriate arrangements to return equipment and credentials. The LFI must keep all Sensitive Security Information (SSI) and Sensitive Personally Identifying Information (SPII) secured appropriately both during and after a re-qualification session in compliance with the TSA MD 2100.2; Privacy and Information Collection Policy and TSA MD 1400.3 TSA Information Security Policy. REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree or above in Spanish Language and Culture
2-5 years of experience teaching Spanish in higher education, on-ground and on-line
2-5 years of experience teaching cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.
Professional written and verbal communication skills

Essential Functions:
* Fulfill teaching expectations associated with lecturer, non-tenure-track appointment. Teach 12-hours per semester (either in-person or online, according to departmental needs) or equivalent full workload as outlined in the faculty handbook utilizing an online learning management system.
* Teach and develop undergraduate classes and seminars as assigned and as dependent upon department needs, which may include classroom, clinical, and simulation or some combination of classes consistent with the candidate's training and interests.
* Work with other nursing faculty to plan, organize, and teach appropriate content in the BSN program that aligns with the AACN Essentials (2021), adheres to the Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN) requirements, and reflects the mission of the SON.
* Engage in fair, timely, and equitable grading of student assignments, including evaluation of student performance.
* Provide direct oversight of student learning at clinical sites and assist with simulated learning experiences both in-person and utilizing virtual simulation software.
* Participate in the advising process with students to support student success.
* Fulfill service expectations associated with lecturer, non-tenure-track appointment by engaging in service activities in the department, university, and profession.
* This is a nine-month, non-tenure track appointment as a Lecturer with possible conversion to tenure track after three years. A completed doctorate is necessary for tenure-track appointment.
* If the position is converted to a tenure-track appointment, and the incumbent is hired into the tenure-track position, the assistant professor will be responsible for fulfilling all expectations associated with a tenure-track appointment, including scholarship and teaching workload as outlined in the faculty handbook.

Required Qualifications:
* Completed Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN). If not completed at time of application, must be completed by December 31, 2025.
