This program combines online didactic instruction with periodic in-person immersion experiences at the Edgewood University Center for Health Sciences in Madison, WI. Online theory instruction includes facilitating synchronous lectures on Tuesdays, proctoring exams on several Thursday afternoons, and holding two weekly virtual office hours. Courses run in both half-semester and full-semester formats. Online teaching experience is preferred, but training is available for the right candidate. In-person immersion faculty will teach at the Edgewood University Center for Health Sciences, located at 1255 Deming Way in Madison, WI. Faculty may lead instruction or evaluation in nursing skills, health assessment, or simulation debriefing, working with student groups of up to 8. Immersion sessions occur periodically throughout the year. First Consideration will be given to application materials received by August 25, 2025. We seek a published creative writer and journalist with experience teaching in both fields. The typical teaching load is 3/3 and will include an advisory role with the Round Table, our student newspaper. Courses include a multi-genre introduction to creative writing (fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction), introduction to journalism, and upper-level courses in both fields. Tertiary interests may include creative nonfiction, American literature, expository writing, and media studies. Beloit College has a long and distinctive history in the field of creative writing, including an annual visiting Mackey Chair in creative writing and the Beloit Fiction Journal. Creative writing class sizes are small (cap 15) and students are engaged. The successful candidate will have the freedom to design courses to their strengths and interests and will contribute to Beloit's School of Media and the Arts.
