POSITION TITLE: Non-Credit Instructor - CTE OSHA (part-time) DEPARTMENT: Economic & Business Development REPORTS TO: Director of the NOWI POSITION STATUS: This is a part-time, non-unit professional position without benefits, not to exceed 18.5 hours per week.

STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Lead OSHA Trainer serves as the institution's in-house OSHA expert, delivering OSHA 10 and 30 trainings, developing a team of certified trainers, and supporting internal safety audits and mock inspections. The trainer also provides guidance on federal and state workplace safety standards, with a focus on supporting high-risk technical training environments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Training & Instruction
* Deliver OSHA-authorized OSHA 10 and OSHA 30-hour General Industry and/or Construction trainings to staff, faculty, and program participants.
* Serve as a "train-the-trainer" instructor, certifying and mentoring internal staff to become OSHA outreach trainers.
* Customize safety training to align with programmatic areas (e.g., GWO, confined space, welding, offshore wind, HVAC, welding, and marine technology).
* Facilitate regular safety refreshers, toolbox talks, and hazard communication sessions.
* Compliance & Program Development
* Support routine safety audits and inspections of classrooms, labs, training spaces, and facilities.
* Lead or support mock OSHA inspections to identify compliance gaps and develop corrective action plans.
* Maintain training documentation, compliance records, and up-to-date knowledge of OSHA regulations and best practices with staff
* Coordinate with Facilities, HR, and Academic/Workforce Divisions as needed.
* Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to site safety, emergency response, PPE use, and equipment handling.
* Leadership & Collaboration
* Collaborate with Facilities and Workforce staff to uphold safety culture and risk management strategies.
* Supervise or mentor part-time or adjunct safety instructors, where applicable.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer for Construction and/or General Industry (OSHA 500 or 501 required).
* Minimum of 5 years of occupational safety or technical training experience, including OSHA 10/30 delivery.
* Must have a current First Aid/CPR and AED certifications from the American Red Cross of the American Heart Association and OHSA 10/30.
* Demonstrated experience developing and facilitating "train-the-trainer" programs.
* Strong knowledge of federal and Massachusetts-specific OSHA regulations.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience in technical training environments (e.g., trades, offshore wind, welding, maritime, HVAC).
* Experience conducting safety audits and mock OSHA inspections.
* Additional OHSA Credentials preferred including: OHSA Confined Space Entry or National Fire Protection Association, OHSA Fall Protection, OHSA Electrical Safety, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER), OSHA Fire Safety or Fire Watch training, American Welding Society (AWS) or OSHA welding safety training.
* Additional industry recognized credentials are preferred such as NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) certification, Heavy Equipment Operator (Forklift, Crane/Hoist, Scissor Lift), and Scaffolding
* Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or related field (or equivalent experience).
* Bilingual or multilingual proficiency a plus.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:
* Must be able to work in industrial and lab environments, including heights, confined spaces, and outdoor areas.
* Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
* Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for training delivery.

Teach weekly private lessons (50 minutes each) for high school saxophone students from beginner to advanced levels.
Create a weekly schedule for private lessons and communicate with students regarding schedule changes. Maintain accurate rosters, monitor student attendance, enter grades and comments in a timely manner according to the Academic Advising Calendar.
Understand the Academy's calendar and daily schedule and effectively use Academy systems for communication and course management.
Work with students to set goals for private lessons, select appropriate repertoire, help students procure music. Instruct students in technique, musicianship, and practice strategies. Assess and support musical development. Provide appropriate performance opportunities.
Communicate student issues or concerns with Department Chair and/or student's advisor when necessary.
Prepare students for recitals, masterclasses, competitions, college admission recordings, ensemble music and other needs.
Engage with diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racist work specific to the music department.
Collaborate with colleagues on faculty performances as interested/available.
Participate in department meetings and other forms of shared governance.

Lecturers Position Overview
Lecturers complement the efforts and qualifications of regular appointment-track faculty and allow flexibility to address programmatic needs. A lecturer may be reappointed to NRAT employment. Maintain accurate rosters, monitor student attendance, enter grades and comments in a timely manner according to the Academic Advising Calendar and deadlines set by the music department.
Teach in accordance with the Academy's calendar and daily schedule and effectively use Academy systems for communication and course management.
Instruct students in technique, musicianship, and practice strategies.
Assess and support musical development by encouraging participation in appropriate performance opportunities.
Communicate student issues or concerns with Department Chair and/or student's advisor when necessary.
Prepare students for recitals, masterclasses, competitions, college admission recordings, ensemble music and other needs.
