JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Lead Instructor of Technical Services to join our team in Seattle, Washington.
This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep, hands-on expertise in commercial HVAC/R systems, electrical infrastructure, and building automation/controls. This leader will be responsible for supervising a multi-faceted FCTA training center as well as teaching technicians and supporting their career growth.
First Coast Technical Academy training facility is located at a Boeing facility. It includes travel up to 25% to support regional teams, training centers, and field operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of the technical training center, ensuring high-quality instruction and facility readiness.
Serve as a subject matter expert across multiple trades including HVAC/R, electrical systems, and controls
Conduct training of technicians, and trains and supervise a small cadre of support instructors
Support the growth of technical training staff through mentorship, coaching, and performance development initiatives.
Help develop and execute technical training programs, ensuring alignment with evolving technologies, safety standards, and operational goals
Facilitate advanced support and oversight for BAS/EMS systems, including digital/analog I/O, system integration, and programming logic.
Assist with complex diagnostics, commissioning, and system optimization in the field as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in HVAC/R, electrical, and controls, including 5+ years in a leadership or director-level role.
Minimum 5 years of experience training technicians in technical skills related to their job requirements.
Deep knowledge of commercial HVACR systems, electrical distribution, and building automation platforms.
Proficiency in BAS/EMS systems, digital and analog I/O, and programming for HVAC and energy systems.
Must hold or have held a valid journeyman or trade license in HVAC, refrigeration, or electrical (Washington State or transferable).
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and influence technical strategy.
Experience designing or overseeing technical training programs is highly desirable.
Willingness to travel up to 25% to support field teams and training initiatives.

Join the pool of vetted faculty adjuncts for future adjunct instructor positions. Help students develop the necessary skills to succeed in the field of system design for games.
The Department of Design faculty who teach these topics are themselves subject matter experts who bring decades of first-hand industry experience from the world of mobile games, PC/console games, tabletop games, user research, and more. They help students learn design thinking and how to solve problems from the vantage of the end user, creating more seamless and engaging experiences in the process.
Design courses at DigiPen cover a multitude of sub-disciplines within the broader practice of professional game design and development. * Teach introductory and upper-division courses in System Design in accordance with departmental policies and assigned class schedules (evening classes available)
* Focus on gameplay systems and user/player choice in games and projects. The ideal candidate has a passion for helping students reduce complex systems to simple understandable components/modules and understands how systems interact to encourage engaging experiences for users.
* Demonstrate design and analysis techniques

Requirements
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach adult professional students in preparation for the world of work utilizing current strategies and theories that address myriad adult learner individual differences (age, sex/gender, education level, experience level, motivation, rank, socioeconomic status, personal history, etc.).
Adapt authentic materials or repurpose traditional language materials using the Interagency Language Roundtable Language Skill Level Descriptions to tailor curricula to meet student needs.
Integrate audio, video, and computer assisted multi-media into the foreign language classroom.

QUALIFICATIONS:
US citizenship.
A minimum ILR 4 in listening, speaking, reading and writing in the target language, as well as a minimum ILR L3/R3/S3/W3 in English.
Familiar with developing lesson plans and preparing supplementary material.
A minimum of 1 year of experience teaching foreign languages to adult students.
Possess experience in word processing using foreign fonts, and familiarity with working in a Windows (MS Office) environment.

About the Department
WWU College of the Environment Western on the Peninsulas programs provide off-campus degree programs designed with a flexible schedule (evening hours) for working adults and offers three bachelor's degrees as follows: BA in Environmental Studies (emphasis either in Geographic Information Systems or in Environmental Science); BA in Natural Resource Management; and BS in Environmental Science. A full list of degrees/certificates is listed online. Classes in the degree programs are held during evening hours (after 5:00 p.m.). The classrooms are networked across two sites at Port Angeles and Poulsbo. A class held at any of these sites is connected via Interactive Teleconferencing to the two other sites. Hence any single cohort/class of our students is typically spread across three sites.

Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load.
Adjunct positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis.
