The Lab Teaching Assistant (TA) provides instructional support to faculty and students in a laboratory setting. The TA is responsible for assisting in the preparation, execution, and evaluation of laboratory sessions for undergraduate courses. GEOL 1000L TAs work with the laboratory coordinator to teach the labs using the CSUSB Geology GEOL 1000L Laboratory Manual, following the schedule determined by the lab coordinator. GEOL 1000L class meetings are 2 hours and forty-five minutes once a week and include topics such as topographic maps, mineral and rock identification, structural geology, geologic hazards, plate tectonics, and a field trip to the San Andreas Fault. GEOL 1000L TAs are expected to be present in person for all class meetings during the semester, attend meetings with the laboratory coordinator and other teaching assistants, maintain the shared lab space including cleaning up after assigned lab sections, assess student work, and be available to students outside of class during regularly scheduled office hours as well as over email and by appointment.
