We're hiring a full-time Lead Instructor for our First Coast Technical Academy (FCTA) training center in Seattle, Washington!
JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Lead Instructor of Technical Services to join our team in Seattle, Washington.
This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep, hands-on expertise in commercial HVAC/R systems, electrical infrastructure, and building automation/controls. This leader will be responsible for supervising a multi-faceted FCTA training center as well as teaching technicians and supporting their career growth.
First Coast Technical Academy training facility is located at a Boeing facility. It includes travel up to 25% to support regional teams, training centers, and field operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of the technical training center, ensuring high-quality instruction and facility readiness.
Serve as a subject matter expert across multiple trades including HVAC/R, electrical systems, and controls
Conduct training of technicians, and trains and supervise a small cadre of support instructors
Support the growth of technical training staff through mentorship, coaching, and performance development initiatives.
Help develop and execute technical training programs, ensuring alignment with evolving technologies, safety standards, and operational goals
Facilitate advanced support and oversight for BAS/EMS systems, including digital/analog I/O, system integration, and programming logic.
Assist with complex diagnostics, commissioning, and system optimization in the field as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in HVAC/R, electrical, and controls, including 5+ years in a leadership or director-level role.
Minimum 5 years of experience training technicians in technical skills related to their job requirements.
Deep knowledge of commercial HVACR systems, electrical distribution, and building automation platforms.
Proficiency in BAS/EMS systems, digital and analog I/O, and programming for HVAC and energy systems.
Must hold or have held a valid journeyman or trade license in HVAC, refrigeration, or electrical (Washington State or transferable).
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and influence technical strategy.
Experience designing or overseeing technical training programs is highly desirable.
Willingness to travel up to 25% to support field teams and training initiatives.

This instructor must be able to teach Field Surveying program and work closely with the program's advisory committee. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work involves face-to-face instruction and is performed in a classroom which is adequately heated and ventilated, and in an on-campus outdoor environment, sometimes in rainy conditions. Occasional off-campus student field trips may be expected. Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screens in performing work assignments required.

This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Lecture (theory) credits are compensated at $1,090 per credit, which includes scheduled class time and final exam days, in addition to a per credit stipend based on the high demand tier. All guided practice instructional credits for adjunct will be paid with an additional pay factor of 1.33. Future advancement in base salary, up to the current maximum of $1,640 per credit, is based upon a combination of years of service accrued at our college and professional development activity.

Master's or Doctorate degree stipends are paid on a prorated per credit rate.

The Department of Design faculty who teach these topics are themselves subject matter experts who bring decades of first-hand industry experience from the world of mobile games, PC/console games, tabletop games, user research, and more. Design courses at DigiPen cover a multitude of sub-disciplines within the broader practice of professional game design and development. The Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington School of Medicine, in partnership with Seattle Children's Hospital is seeking candidates for a full-time position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor on the Clinical Practice Track. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW's Faculty Code Section 24-34. Anticipated start date is Summer 2026.
In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.
The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor range: $13,641 - $20,461 per month ($163,692- $245,532 annually), Associate Professor range: $16,487 - $24,730 per month ($197,844 - $296,760 annually), Professor range: $19,820 - $29,729 per month ($237,840 - $356,748 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. The successful candidate will lead the development of a new Comprehensive Asthma Program at Seattle Children's Hospital. HOW A Secondary Firearms Instructor (SFI) WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
The Secondary Firearms Instructor (SFI) supports the Lead Firearms Instructor (LFI) during the Federal Flight Deck Officer (FFDO) Requalification Training sessions. The SFI assists the LFI as directed in the preparation; completion; and post session clean-up requirements of all FFDO Semi-annual Firearms Requalification sessions.
Ensures student safety during dry-fire and live-fire training venues.
The SFI provides one-on-one instruction to students during the pre-qualification (warm-up) course of fire; and any remedial training as designated by the LFI.
The SFI must possess the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate law enforcement training concepts and issues to a diverse audience; and must possess the demonstrated ability to instruct in accordance with the principles of basic adult education; as well as platform and practical area instruction for law enforcement.
The SFI must have the ability to interpret; apply; and adhere to established program policies; standard operating procedures (SOPs); and lesson plans.
The SFI keeps all Sensitive Security Information (SSI) and Sensitive Personally Identifying Information (SPII) secured appropriately both during and after a re-qualification session in compliance with the TSA MD 2100.2; Privacy and Information Collection Policy and TSA MD 1400.3 TSA Information Security Policy.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Required Experience: SFIs must have a minimum of 5 years of formal experience as an instructor in ALL of the following law enforcement disciplines: firearms; defensive tactics/measures; and use of force.
The SFI must be a current or former certified law enforcement official or civilian employee having completed a military; state; county or municipally certified firearms training program.
Associates Degree; or the equivalent combination of education; technical certifications or training; or work/military experience.
The SFI must also comply with all Federal; state; and/or local requirements.
This position requires applicants to successfully complete the security application and pass a background investigation clearance prior to starting.*
Working Conditions The work is typically performed at an indoor or outdoor gun range. Employees will be required to handle weapons and ammunition in the course of their duties. Exposure to high volumes of noise due to the firing of weapons will occur and employees are required to wear hearing protection in the form of foam ear plugs as well as external hearing protection. Exposure to expelled gun-powder as a result of fired ammunition is expected; and the employees must wash hands after handling ammunition. Work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials; boxes; or equipment. About the Department
WWU College of the Environment Western on the Peninsulas programs provide off-campus degree programs designed with a flexible schedule (evening hours) for working adults and offers three bachelor's degrees as follows: BA in Environmental Studies (emphasis either in Geographic Information Systems or in Environmental Science); BA in Natural Resource Management; and BS in Environmental Science. A full list of degrees/certificates is listed online. Classes in the degree programs are held during evening hours (after 5:00 p.m.). The classrooms are networked across two sites at Port Angeles and Poulsbo. A class held at any of these sites is connected via Interactive Teleconferencing to the two other sites. Hence any single cohort/class of our students is typically spread across three sites.
WWU College of the Environment - Western on the Peninsulas programs are home to diverse faculty and students who are committed to interdisciplinary environmental problem solving. In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act of 1998, and as a part of the College's commitment to safety and security on campus, Lake Washington Institute of Technology(LWTech) reports the mandated information about current campus policies concerning safety and security issues, the required statistics, and other related information for the past three (3) calendar years.
