Brief Description of Duties
* Performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instruction in the area of Reading, Mathematics, Workplace Communications, Career Success Standards, Health Education, Driver's Education, or HSD/HSE.
* Endeavors to promote a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting, ensuring maximum student motivation.
* Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom in order to ensure maximum learning.
* Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
* Works directly with the career tech instructors in coordinating curriculum development.
* Utilizes all possible curricular resource available at the Center.
* Makes adequate preparation for classroom.
* Maintains students' personal folders, recording personal data, including test scores, evaluations, incident reports, achievement awards, and any other pertinent information concerning students. Records attendance in CIS.
* Participates in ESP's (evaluation of student performance).
* Evaluates student employee's performance in academics and career success standards (CSS). Provides regular feedback to student employees regarding appropriate CSS.
* Works toward meeting performance standard goals, learning gains, HSD/HSE, trade completion, and career technical certification.
* Conducts audits of ATARS; develops corrective action as needed.
* Follows CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
* Assists with quarterly graduation exercises.
* Adheres to required property control policies and procedures.
* Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices
* Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Serrato policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for teaching a broad range of undergraduate nursing courses in both classroom and clinical settings. Will work with a diverse student population and work cooperatively with divisional and university faculty. Application materials for adjunct positions are accepted on an on-going basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Prepare and teach a broad range of undergraduate nursing courses.
* Evaluate and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and teaching methods as required in the maintenance of high-quality and relevant programs of study in nursing.
* Assist in the preparation of semester schedules, selections of textbooks/digital media, and program planning.
* Assist with program accreditation activities.
* Hold regularly scheduled office hours to advise and provide guidance to students in their pursuit of a degree.
* Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities as appropriate.
* Compile and administer examinations to assess student learning and progress.
* Maintain records as required for student attendance, advising and grading.
* Participate in campus and community events.
* Advise and/or work with student organizations as needed.
* Perform additional job related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of Kansas and Missouri or the ability to obtain such licensure prior to finalization of contract.
* MSN required, PhD or DNP preferred.
* Previous Clinical and teaching background with progressive experience in teaching in a university pre-licensure nursing program preferred.
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact and effectively work and teach in a diverse environment.
* Reliable transportation and willingness to drive to various clinical sites it essential.
* Must successfully clear required background and drug screen as appropriate.
* Affinity with the overall values and mission of the University of Saint Mary and Division of Nursing.
