Essential Functions:
Effectively delivers clinical and/or theory instruction utilizing the course materials provided.
Develop teaching methods and strategies to engage the students in learning and to promote clinical judgment skills in the clinical setting.
Apply the clinical judgment model and theoretical principles to evaluate student's clinical competency.
Responsible for the provision of learning experiences that facilitate application and integration of theoretical principles, active participation and experience in patient care management, and observation with active participation in professional roles for nurses in the clinical setting.
Responsible for ensuring patient safety and for the school's compliance with policies established by the clinical agency.
Lead as a clinical resource managing pre- and post-conferences and engaging students to reflect on their clinical experiences.
Create and establish a professional environment that promotes student success through important characteristics of a nurse: accountability, flexibility, passion, and integrity.
Promotes student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching and engaging students in the learning process.
Responsible for maintaining and submitting accurate student grades, reports, attendance, and student feedback in a timely manner.
Maintains current knowledge in the performance and nursing duties assigned.
Participates in department meetings and shared governance committees.
Qualifications:
Current and active California license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) required.
Bachelor's degree required.
Four (4) years of bedside or clinical nursing experience within the past five (5) years.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Card.
Previous work experience in a Fundamentals setting, hospitals, and/or skilled nursing facilities.
Must have at least one (1) year of acute care experience within the past five (5) years.
Previous teaching experience is preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft: Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Up-to-Date Immunization Records.
$40-$50/hr. Salary is dependent on experience and education.

Southwestern College is seeking qualified part-time instructors to teach American Sign Language (ASL) in person. Ideal candidates are available to teach beginning and intermediate levels of ASL in person and are experienced in teaching a variety of modalities (in person/web-enhanced, hybrid and/or online). This position may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, and extension site assignments.
Successful candidates may be assigned to any of the campus sites (Chula Vista, National City, Otay Mesa, San Ysidro), local high schools, extension sites and/or local correctional facilities.
Provides instruction in ASL with a focus on language structure, including grammar, syntax, and non-manual signals. The role involves teaching sign recognition (receptive skills) and sign production (expressive skills) to help students achieve proficiency in ASL. Additionally, the position includes introducing students to key aspects of Deaf culture, such as history, social norms, and the cultural significance of ASL within the Deaf community, emphasizing both language fluency and cultural competence.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of professional experience in American Sign Language.

Experience and/or interest in working in an integrated dance curriculum where there is both differentiation and linkage between the various technique classes (e.g., hip hop, ballet, capoeira, Horton, contact improvisation, musical theater, etc.) and “technical support” classes (e.g., yoga, Pilates, somatics, etc.).
Intro to Dance - Ability to communicate the functions of dance in culture and society at an introductory level to a large group comprised of both dancers and non-dancers; MFA/Ph.D. in Dance or equivalent professional experience; experience and/or interest in working in an integrated dance curriculum where there is both differentiation and linkage between the Introduction to Dance and performance classes in the Dance Program; currency in the field.
Dance Making Lab - Demonstrated track record of a minimum of 10 years of dancemaking that includes work presented by nationally recognized venues and/or smaller venues where work was selected from nationally recognized panelists from a national pool of applicants. Demonstrated track record of dancemaking that includes sophisticated integration of both set and scored material; MFA in Dance or equivalent professional experience.
Dance Aesthetics & Criticism, Dance History - Ability to guide dance majors in the application of personal, social, cultural, and political lenses while viewing, discussing, and writing about dance. Support students in navigating changes in the writing process in the age of AI; MFA/PhD in Dance or equivalent professional experience; experience and/or interest in working in an integrated dance curriculum where there is both differentiation and linkage between the Introduction to Dance and performance classes in the Dance Program; experience and/or interest in teaching skills in dance writing; currency in the field.
Dance General Education - Ability to instruct general students of the significance of dance; ability to guide general students in the application of personal, social, cultural, and political lenses while viewing, discussing, and writing about dance. Support students in navigating changes in the writing process in the age of AI; MFA/PhD in Dance or equivalent professional experience plus currency in the field required; university experience lecturing on dance topics required.

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range.

Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224
Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523
