Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
* Attend in-service meetings and training sessions as required.
* Arrive 15 minutes before class to ensure a prompt and organized start.
* Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold the values of Wichita State University and Campus Recreation.
* Serve as an ambassador for the Health & Fitness department, promoting its mission and services.
* Ensure participant safety during all classes by monitoring and modifying exercises to accommodate varying fitness levels.
* Educate participants on proper equipment usage and ensure all university equipment is used appropriately.
* Provide a friendly, positive, and customer service-oriented environment.
* Observe, educate, and enforce facility rules in a welcoming and helpful manner.
* Engage in ongoing professional development and training to expand knowledge in the fitness field.
* Report potential hazards or unsafe conditions to the direct supervisor promptly.
* Respond to medical emergencies within your qualification level and ability.
* Perform other duties as assigned to support program operations and success.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Additional Requirements
Required Qualifications
Comprehensive understanding of the physical aspects of exercise and fitness.
Exceptional public speaking and communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and people skills to engage and motivate participants.
Proven ability to demonstrate and explain proper exercise techniques and practices.
Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it within two weeks of the start date.
Required Experience

Preferred Qualifications
Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Health Sciences, or a related field.
Current certifications in group fitness or personal training (e.g., ACE, NASM, AFAA, or similar).
Previous experience teaching F45 or leading group exercise classes.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.

Friends University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position in the Division of Business. The appointment will begin in August 2026 at a rank that reflects the candidate's experience and academic background.
This new role is designed as a blended position. The majority the faculty member's responsibilities will involve teaching in general business areas such as management, leadership, operations, marketing, or other fields that fit the candidate's strengths. The remainder will involve serving as the primary academic advisor and community point person for the Construction Management program. This includes advising students in the Construction Management program, working with industry partners, reviewing curriculum, identifying program needs, and helping position the program for long-term growth. Business Teaching Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and possibly graduate courses in general business areas that match the candidate's expertise. Teaching assignments may include management, leadership, operations, supply chain, marketing, project management, strategy, or related fields. The faculty member will be expected to support students inside and outside the classroom, use effective instructional practices, and contribute to a positive learning environment.
Construction Management Program Responsibilities
The faculty member will serve as the main contact for the Construction Management program. Responsibilities include advising students in the Construction Management program, meeting with industry leaders, reviewing and improving curriculum, identifying opportunities for experiential learning, and helping the program remain connected to current industry expectations. As the program grows, this position will help evaluate whether facilities, equipment, or additional resources are needed. The faculty member will also help develop internships, employer partnerships, and other applied learning activities that support student success.
Advising, Service, and Professional Engagement
The successful candidate will also participate in university and divisional committees and contribute to the work of the Business Division. Faculty at Friends University engage in ongoing professional development, scholarship, and community partnerships that strengthen their teaching and support the mission of the university.

A master's degree or higher in Business, Management, Leadership, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
University level teaching experience
Experience with curriculum planning, program development, or new program growth

Certifications such as PMP, Lean Six Sigma, SHRM, or similar professional credentials
Familiarity with construction, architecture, engineering, trades, or safety training is helpful but not required
