Instrumentation & control engineer job description

Working primarily as an electrical engineer designer and software development engineer, the successful candidate will work under the direction of the Business Unit Operations Manager
1. Review customer specifications to standard offerings
2. Develop Technical Clarifications/Exceptions to Specifications
3. Investigating, researching, and compiling requested technical data
4. Developing control logic and programs to support system operation
5. Obtain technical quotes for non-standard equipment/components
6. Assist in the selection of instrumentation and panel components as required per specifications
7. Prepare electrical diagrams, panel drawings as well as incorporating changes to drawings
8. Specify Non-Standard Instruments and components.
9. Assist in conducting test procedures and compiling results as well as preparing reports and recommendation
10. Approve drawings/BOM's per established procedures
11. Assist performance testers in equipment setup and FAT testing
QUALIFICATIONS:
Four (4) Year Bachelor of Science Degree in a Technical Field, Engineering Degree preferred. At a minimum, candidates must be qualified as follows: Minimum 4-year technical degree (BSME or BSChE preferred)
EXPERIENCE:
Five (5)+ years' experience related to power and control applications and components with emphasis on PLC / HMI programming of RSLogix, ControLogix, SIMATIC and FactoryTalk platforms. Additional programming experience considered a plus.
Experience with integrating automated fluid process systems using actuated valves, temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters, level controls and other various automated controls using P&ID drawings. Must have the ability to troubleshoot automated fluid process systems to include the tuning of P&ID control loops. This includes the actual designing of the hardware side of automated control systems, including process flow diagrams, loop drawings, functional specifications and testing protocols. . Working understanding of Good Automated Manufacturing Practice (GAMP) and how it relates to electrical design, programming and life cycle documentation a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Good interpersonal skills are required to interface with sales personnel and customers. Candidate must be proficient in manipulating large amounts of cost data in MS Excel and other cost databases.

ResponsibilitiesPrincipal Engineers are expected to be leaders of projects and project teams and responsible for managing project man-hour budgets and scheduling of department man-hours Strong technical skills and an ability to mentor and assist staff in all aspects of electrical design, including I&C specifications and selection Supervise and monitor project staff ensuring that engineering packages are completed on time and within budget for the project they are responsible for. RequirementsBachelor's Degree or Higher in Electrical or Controls Engineering10-15 years (or more) of experience working in a Power Generation, Distribution, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Pharmaceutical and/or Industrial engineering environment Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred Low voltage power distribution system design and layout Instrumentation identification and installation package development as well as application design including data sheets, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, instrument lists, input / output lists, and scope of work development.Instrumentation skills including: reading or developing P&IDs , Instrument selection and specifications, control valve and primary element sizing, instrument loop diagrams, locations plans and installation details, and interconnection and wiring diagrams Distributed Control System interface design experience Electrical heat trace design Development of wiring diagrams and schematics Must not need sponsorship now or in the future to work in the US

• Associates degree in an applicable engineering field (EE preferred) or 2 years equivalent experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Advanced Knowledge of current OSHA, NFPA, UL/CE and standards.

• Demonstrated ability in Industry 4.0 implementation with historical data collection.
• Knowledge of industrial protocols such as: Ethernet, CAN-bus, I/O Link networks.
• Knowledge of OLE for Process Control (OPC) tools such as Kepware.
