SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain a working knowledge of all testing equipment which includes but not limited to respirator fit machines, pulmonary function machine, audiometry machine, and breath alcohol machines.
Calibrate all equipment at the beginning of each day in accordance with manufacturer's requirements. Additional calibrations may be required at other times according to manufacturer's specifications.
Inspect and repair all equipment as necessary.
Conduct periodic surveys of equipment and stations so that all safety and hygiene hazards to customers and Technicians are identified and corrected.
Complete all the administrative steps applicable to the equipment so that all required information is verified and properly recorded.
Administer respirator fit tests in full compliance with CFR 1910.134 Respiratory Protection Standard.
Administer all drug and alcohol collections in full compliance with 49 CFR Part 40 standards.
Maintain and develop customer relationships by responding to questions, concerns, and requests from customers with speed and professionalism.
Thoroughly disinfect and inspect each respirator upon completion of each test
Insure all customer data and paperwork is kept confidential at all times
Keep up to date with relevant safety topics, software and lecture and online training technology
Up to date in NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) and CAOHC (Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation) certifications
Up to date in all drug and alcohol testing certifications and courses
Strive to maintain personal drug testing procedures that are flawless - undergo mandated remediation within 30 days of error notification.
Respond to after-hour calls as needed

Able to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed in accordance with department policy. Neonatal pediatric adolescent adult geriatric adjusts technical factors relative to the requirements of the study and the physical maturation of the patient. Modifies patient positioning techniques relative to the patients physical and cognitive abilities. Always takes special care in handling, positioning and/or restraining infants and geriatric patients to avoid injury or excessive radiation exposure. Never leaves infant, pediatric or disoriented geriatric patient unattended. Exercises Good Clinical Judgment: Consults with the radiologist or other clinician for purposes of clarifying orders. Selects alternate or additional view appropriately relative to the patients condition. Does not attempt to perform an exam in any case in which it cannot be performed safely and/or properly. Documents clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner. The Polysomnography Tech 2, under the direction of the Manager, coordinates the daily operations of the Sleep Laboratory. Within this framework, responsible for monitoring and accessing Sleep Lab quality, policies and procedures, staff and equipment performance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Performs polysomnographic studies in a clinical setting, including oxygen and nasal continuous positive airway pressure titrations.
Scores studies and formulates reports for physician interpretation. Documents all pertinent patient events according to department policy.
Communicates instructions, results, and relative information to patients, physicians, and family members.
Calibrates and performs routine and troubleshooting maintenance on equipment, contacting manufacturers for repairs as needed. Notifies proper personnel for equipment problems. Cleans all equipment ensuring infection control.
Consults regularly with the Medical Director regarding patient studies.
Maintains standards for completeness of Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Control measurements.
Orients and trains new Sleep Lab employees.
Establishes and implements performance improvements including education and staff development.
Communicates concerns and/or problems with possible solutions to the Department Manager or Director.
Maintains a current and complete Policy and Procedure Manual.
