Integration and test engineer job description

Leidos is seeking a Senior Integration and Test Engineer (I&T) to be a part of a team of test personnel to support design, development, integration, test, deployment, and training on an advanced distributed simulation system. This position will support design efforts through the creation of test plans, development of software test cases, scenarios, and procedures that incorporates the use of a variety of software applications and tools. This position will be local and with minimal potential for remote work. The position will require a command of operational and training applications and a high degree of knowledge of computer applications. The I&T position will require the ability to support the development of training as well as occasional deployment to field sites for testing with military units. Travel is expected to be 2-3 times per calendar year and up to three weeks for each travel event.

A candidate will be responsible for performing the verification and validation of software and systems development. Duties include requirements analysis and limited development of system test appliances and controls. A candidate may participate in integration testing with hardware products, development environments, distributed environments, point of need operations, network architectures, and other system level features and capabilities.

A successful candidate will possess the ability to interpret and/or develop test procedures and exercise steps, walk through complex user activities, determine success or failure of the test procedures and document finding. A successful candidate needs to demonstrate that they can solve simple, routine technical problems following established procedures and policies. Preference is given to candidates who possess experience in the military training environment especially Army training.

Basic Qualifications:

• Possess or be able to acquire a DOD Secret level clearance
• Hold a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, systems or software engineering from an accredited college or university, or a Master's degree
• Have at least 10 years' experience in a Test Engineer position
• Practical and theoretical understanding of the software development life cycle and the role of testing in that process.
• Experience in test planning, development, and execution; requirement development and management experience along with the derivation of test cases and test procedures from those requirements.
• Experience testing military manned simulators and simulations, preferably in a federated environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Agile Development and Testing environment
• Experience and background in Army Training environment
• Knowledge of military network operations
• Certifications held related to data management, IA, security, or testing

Pay Range: Pay Range $94,250.00 - $145,000.00 - $195,750.00

Job Description:
Our DoD client looking for a Senior Principal Systems Integration and Test Engineer. The candidate will provide engineering support to the overall system and will have experience working on large software systems with an emphasis on troubleshooting issues. They also must have integration and test expertise, and be capable of developing a strong rapport within the program and the customer community. They will lead system level integration, test, and verification activities both in factory and at customer sites including Installation, Checkout, and Test (IC&T) activities after deployments. They will manage, direct, and clarify system-level I&T activities; attend technical interchange meetings with other program personnel and customer representatives, and support the organization in matters pertaining to I&T of the system. The candidate will lead the team in efforts to automate both regression and verification testing.

Security Clearance: An Active and In-Scope TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance

Required Skills:
•Experience leading engineering teams
•Understanding of the System Engineering lifecycle and change management process
•Experience with integration, test, and verification of ground systems
•Experience automating tests
•Experience estimating I&T impacts, technical approach, and costs for customer requested engineering proposals
•Experience in systems engineering functions including large scale system integration, large scale system test and verification
•Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with all levels of customer, management, and individual contributors
•Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
•Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools

Desired Skills:
•Experience in Command and Telemetry, Mission Planning and/or Hardware Control
•Experience in Cucumber/Gherkin/Python
•Familiar with Agile and Water Fall development
•Domain experience preferred
Education and Experience Requirements:
10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree (Typically STEM focused - Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics); OR
8 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree (Typically STEM focused - Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering. However, equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in Satellite Ground Station - Command and Control applications and software integration and troubleshooting experience of complex, multi-application systems, as well as Satellite Mission Planning Software
• Experience with programs executing with a continuous delivery pipeline
• Experience with the cloud architecture and tools associated with cloud development and security
• Familiarity with SAFe Agile development methodology
• Familiarity with toolsets such as Confluence, Git, Gradle, Jira, Test Rail, BitBucket, and Crucible
• Certified RedHat Linux System Administrator or RedHat Linux Engineer
• Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL)
• Communicates effectively with management, peers and customer
• Displays excellent teamwork skills with the ability to lead a team in a test lab environment
