    The Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) provides technical leadership and expertise in the application of Model-Based Systems Engineering methods to design, analyze, and optimize Department of Defense systems. This position leverages advanced MBSE tools, techniques, and frameworks to create digital representations of complex systems, enabling data-driven decision-making and enhancing system lifecycle management. As a subject matter expert, the MBSE Engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system designs meet mission-critical requirements, integrate seamlessly with existing platforms, and comply with DoD standards and security protocols. This role requires an active Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility due to the highly classified nature of system development and operations. This role is 100% onsite at NASIC (National Air and Space Intelligence Center) located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, near Dayton, Ohio. Responsibilities Systems Engineering and Modeling Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering principles, frameworks, and tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw) to create digital models that simulate system design, performance, and functionality. Develop and maintain system models to support trade studies, requirements analysis, and system verification/validation activities. Translate user needs and mission requirements into detailed system models, ensuring alignment with operational objectives. Support the integration of MBSE tools and techniques into DoD acquisition processes to reduce lifecycle costs and improve system reliability. Development and Integration of System Architectures Design and analyze system architectures, interfaces, and workflows using MBSE methodologies to enhance scalability and modularity within complex systems. Ensure integration with existing DoD systems, platforms, and mission-critical networks while maintaining interoperability and security compliance. Collaborate with software engineers, hardware engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesion between system components. Requirements Analysis and Management Conduct quantitative analysis to trace system requirements and align system models with mission needs and program goals. Identify inconsistencies and gaps in requirements, providing recommendations for corrective actions through MBSE tools. Validate and verify modeled architectures against established requirements to ensure systems meet user-defined capabilities. Documentation and Reporting Develop and deliver comprehensive technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, system workflows, and performance analyses. Create system models and outputs that support communication with technical teams, stakeholders, and leadership. Provide regular briefings to program managers and DoD leadership on project models, simulations, and system behavior outcomes. Risk Management and Continuous Improvement Utilize MBSE techniques to identify, mitigate, and monitor risks during system development and integration processes. Drive innovation by researching and introducing emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies in the MBSE domain. Incorporate lessons learned from prior programs to refine processes and strengthen MBSE implementation across projects. Collaboration and Leadership Work closely with cross-functional teams, including system integrators, software developers, cybersecurity professionals, and acquisition personnel. Serve as the MBSE Subject Matter Expert (SME) to mentor junior engineers on best practices and emerging technologies. Act as a trusted advisor to government stakeholders, providing guidance on how MBSE can improve program outcomes and mission readiness. Qualifications Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Systems, or related field. Advanced degrees are preferred, but equivalent military or professional experience may be considered. Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering, including 3+ years applying MBSE methodolgoies in DoD environments. Proven track record of developing system models for large-scale and mission-critical operations. Preferred certifications: Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP), INCOSE MBSE-related certifications, or equivalent credentials. Proficiency in MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or Enterprise Architect is highly desirable. Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). U.S. Citizenship. Update existing SW deployment packages when cybersecurity vulnerabilities are identified. Work with the customer SW License Manager to track all licensed SW. Maintain software file share, Package software for the customer Application Catalog for SIPRNET and JWICS. Utilize the customer trouble ticket tracking system (Microsoft System Center Service Manager) and the Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) Trouble Ticketing system (e.g. Remedy) to track all customer requests. Assist in maintaining necessary interface with other Government agencies, industry, and external IT support agencies to remain cognizant of new and existing information technologies and system integration demands and requirements.
