Position Overview:
The purpose of this position is to perform the primary functions of a nurse in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating patient care in the Emergency Room.
Essential Job Functions:
Plan, prioritize, and provide proficient, age-specific and developmentally/specialty appropriate nursing care by applying advanced specialty clinical nursing knowledge and skills and for ensuring the comfort and safety of patients/families
Proficiently and consistently complete accurate, concise and legible documentation on medical records
Observe and record signs, symptoms and behaviors including the physiological status of patients
Presents proposed revision of interventions and desired outcomes
Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times
Follow physician's orders in the delivery of nursing care
Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as COLA and CLIA regulations
Adhere to required infection control, isolation procedures and aseptic techniques in the delivery of patient care
Perform admission, discharge and transfer procedures
Participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care given
Assemble equipment and supply for various diagnostic or treatment procedures in the specialty service area; performs or assists others with procedures or treatments. Handle care in accordance with legal, hospital/facility, departmental policies and procedures, and established standards of nursing care and practice, as defined by the Board of Nursing of that State

Basic Qualifications:
Associate's Degree, required; BSN, preferred
Current state licensure as a RegisteredNurse without sanctions, required

Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association, required; ENPC certification from ENA may be substituted for PALS certification; TNCC preferred
Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication

INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center is seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Intern (AGACNP student currently enrolled or newly graduated) to join our team. With this ECMO team, you will experience be a part of critically ill patient care, delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This position provides the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to deliver exceptional patient care.
In this high acuity area, you will be on a team who:
Provides comprehensive care in a CVICU and/or Transplant ICU setting, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of critically ill patients.
Manages patient care through daily rounds, formulating care plans, placing orders, adjusting treatment plans, and performing various procedures.
Work closely with heart failure, CT surgery, vascular surgery, and transplant specialists in managing complex patient populations.
Manages a diverse range of conditions, including heart failure, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, MCS devices (VAD, Impella, IABP, VV and/or VA ECMO), and transplant patients (heart, lung, kidney, liver, pancreas).
The specialty critical care team is highly respected and provides high acuity care for the transplant, LVAD, ECMO and advanced heart failure populations. The APPs you will observe and shadow provide 24/7 support at the bedside for this population.

The OHH North and South campuses strive to provide optimal care no matter the setting, with 14 ER beds at the North campus and 20 ER beds at the South campus equipped with critical care technology. ER team members are dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-focused care in a comprehensive, safe and healing environment.

The CCU/IU nurse monitors the overall hemodynamic status of the critically ill patient while performing head to toe assessments, assessing all body systems, rhythms and invasive lines, tubes and drains. In the CCU and IU, the RegisteredNurse is expected to administer, titrate and monitor critically ill patients on critical medications Many of these patients are post-surgical and require intense monitoring. The RegisteredNurse demonstrates knowledge of care in both stable and acute settings. Adheres to organizational policy and adapts to fast-paced environments while actively participating in and encouraging teamwork.
PCCU nurses are trained to administer and monitor patients on cardiac medications, titratable vasoactive infusions as well as monitor and interpret EKG rhythms. They will care for patients with arterial and venous access sheaths as well as invasive drains; while observing the cardiovascular system, neurovascular and pulmonary status, they are able to communicate with physicians about orders and procedures, perform conscious sedation under physician direction and pre-procedure prep. The RegisteredNurse will assist not only with the patient, but also incorporate family focused care by teaching necessary pre- and post-hospital care.
The RegisteredNurse operates out of "nursing pods" this allows them to have no more than four patients at a time which maintains a 4:1 patient-to-nurse ratio. OHH nursing pods allow the RegisteredNurse to have close access to everything they need and have more time at the patient's bedside ensuring the highest quality care.

Responsibilities
Responsible for direct patient care in the assigned department and as needed in other areas of the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Demonstrates knowledge and adherence to federal and state regulations. Actively participates in the routine checks of all equipment used in the cath lab. Collaborates with the team leader, resource nurse and all other team members in idea sharing, utilization of resources, as well as assists in the cross training of the staff when assigned. Additional Duties:
* Performs as scrub, circulator, or monitor in the surgery setting in both emergency and elective cases.
* Accurately assesses each patient to provide excellent patient focused care in pre, peri, and post procedure setting.
* Participates in performance improvement activities such as patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, and staff satisfaction performing surveys as necessary.
* Assists families and patients by teaching the skills and information necessary for successful pre and post-operative care, incorporating age-specific criteria and assessment of readiness to learn.
* Adheres to procedure protocol.

Oklahoma Heart Hospital's paid Nurse Extern Program is a truly unique, hands-on learning opportunity for nursing students prior to their final year of nursing school. The program offers nursing students the opportunity to perform a variety of nursing treatments in a cadiovascular environment, utilize state-of-the-art technology and practice assessment skills under the direction and supervision of an experienced RegisteredNurse.

Once the Externship has been completed, OHH has the option to retain the Nurse Extern while he/she completes his/her last year of nursing school. After graduation, OHH also encourages a smooth transition from Extern to Intern to RN and pays for a NCLEX Review Course to assist Nurse Interns in preparing for their boards.
Qualifications
Education: Completed one (1) year of RN clinicals at an accredited school of nursing. Eligible applicants should be going in to the final year of nursing program.
Licensure/Certification: Current BLS certification required.
