The Manager Nursing - 1 plans, organizes, directs and coordinates nursing care and other activities for multiple unit(s)/department(s). This includes 24-hour responsibility for the functioning of the unit/department, management of nursing staff, fiscal management and quality improvement initiatives. The Manager Nursing - 1 responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: * Directs employee performance management and provides ongoing education opportunities for staff members * Responsible for fiscal management of unit/department * Responsible for overall management of the staffing schedule. May participate in a rotating staffing call schedule within service line. * Responsible for ensuring compliance with Standards of Nursing Practice for assigned unit(s)/department(s) as well as local, state, federal, and Regulatory Agency standards * Implements, reviews, interprets and revises all relevant Integris Health and departmental policies and procedures Community Health Improvement/CHI Only: Act as a resource for Community Health Improvement and rural facilities. CHI Only: Oversight of the Western Village Academy Clinic and the INTEGRIS Free Clinic. Bariatric Surgery only: Provides clinical and administrative expertise for the surgical weight loss program and patient population by developing program standards and protocols, maintaining program certifications, and collaborating with physicians, nurse case managers, unit staff, physical medicine staff to meet program objectives. Reports to assigned leader. This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Responsibilities Responsible for direct patient care in the assigned department and as needed in other areas of the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Demonstrates knowledge and adherence to federal and state regulations. Actively participates in the routine checks of all equipment used in the cath lab. Collaborates with the team leader, resource nurse and all other team members in idea sharing, utilization of resources, as well as assists in the cross training of the staff when assigned. Assists the team leader as needed for projects aimed at achieving the hospital mission and incorporating the values of the hospital in day-to-day activities. Additional Duties: * Performs as scrub, circulator, or monitor in the surgery setting in both emergency and elective cases. * Accurately assesses each patient to provide excellent patient focused care in pre, peri, and post procedure setting. * Participates in performance improvement activities such as patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, and staff satisfaction performing surveys as necessary. * Assists families and patients by teaching the skills and information necessary for successful pre and post-operative care, incorporating age-specific criteria and assessment of readiness to learn. * Adheres to procedure protocol. * Serves as an emotional support for all family members as needed. * Operates all equipment efficiently in the Cath Lab department to include the hemodynamic monitoring, blood analysis, cine projector, intra-aortic balloon pump, injectors, cautery, electro physiology and ablation equipment, pacemaker, defibrillator and all other equipment utilized in the Cath Lab. * Works closely with physicians to optimize inventory levels required to provide the needs of the department while working within the financial structure of the organization. * Trouble shoots and assesses equipment failure and provides a backup plan when needed. * Assures that all supplies are available as needed for each case performed in the Cath Lab. * Participates in the total maintenance of the department. * Adheres to the bylaws developed by the Radiation Safety Committee. * Works closely with Pharmacy to reduce the potential for medication errors. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse with current state licensure, ACLS within 18 months of hire and current BLS certification required. CCRN preferred. Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of continuous cath lab experience preferred. Previous critical care experience preferred. The CCU/IU nurse monitors the overall hemodynamic status of the critically ill patient while performing head to toe assessments, assessing all body systems, rhythms and invasive lines, tubes and drains. In the CCU and IU, the Registered Nurse is expected to administer, titrate and monitor critically ill patients on critical medications. Many of these patients are post-surgical and require intense monitoring. They are able to communicate appropriately with the physicians and surgeons any concerning status changes or body system specifics that may require further intervention. CCU/IU nurses operate and are trained on life saving advanced medical equipment including but not limited to ventilators, Intra-Aortic Balloon pumps, Assistive Heart pumps, Continuous Dialysis machines, Hypothermia induction and maintenance devices, defibrillators and others. CCU/IU Nurses are required to stay current with both BLS and ACLS certifications. The Registered Nurse in CCU functions in units we call pods. This design allows the OHH nurse to maintain a 1:1 or 1:2 nurse patient ratio in the Critical Care Department and a 1:3 nurse patient ratio in the Interventional Unit.
