Nathan Paul Myhrvold (born August 3, 1959), formerly Chief Technology Officer at Microsoft, is co-founder of Intellectual Ventures and the principal author of Modernist Cuisine and its successor books. Myhrvold was listed as co-inventor on 17 U.S. patents at Microsoft and is co-inventor on over 900 other U.S. patents issued to his corporation and its affiliates.

Edward Jung is a Founding Investor at TerraPower LLC, CEO at Xinova, and Founder & CTO at Intellectual Ventures and is based in Bellevue, Washington. He has worked as Founding Investor at Ivy Softworks, Founder at Thinkfire, and Founder at Open Design.

Larry Froeber is the chief financial officer at Intellectual Ventures (IV), responsible for managing critical corporate functions including finance, tax, treasury, information technology, investor relations, and fundraising. Larry joined IV's finance leadership team as senior director of finance in 2008 and became vice president of finance in 2009. In 2015, he was appointed deputy chief financial officer before assuming his current role in 2016.

Prior to joining IV, Larry served as the chief financial officer at one of Washington State’s largest and fastest-growing privately held mortgage banks, where he provided oversight on corporate strategy, fundraising, secondary market mortgage sales, investor relations, and finance and tax. Prior to this role, he was vice president and head of finance and administration for Ignition Partners, a Seattle-area venture capital firm that invests in early-stage software and information technology companies, with approximately $1 billion in capital under management. At Ignition, he was responsible for the firm’s financial operations, reporting, tax, treasury, administration services, investor relations, and fundraising.

Larry earned a business degree from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business where he remains an active university supporter. He has been a licensed certified public accountant in both the state of Washington and the state of Oregon.

Nicole Grogan is the chief people officer at Intellectual Ventures (IV), where she is accountable for the human resources and corporate communications organizations. Nicole joined IV in 2010 as senior vice president of human resources. Her contributions have included the implementation of new short- and long-term compensation plans designed to incentivize increased revenue and profits, as well as launching IV’s first global human resources information system. She is the executive sponsor for IV’s women’s community, mentoring circles, and employee-led activities geared at building community. Through her leadership, the human resources organization actively participates in driving business results while engaging with employees to build a culture that is unique to IV. Additionally, she has supported a refresh of IV’s messaging and increased focus on employment brand and internal communications.

Prior to joining IV, Nicole spent nearly a decade at Cisco Systems, most recently as head of human resources for the company’s global engineering organization of more than 25,000 employees. Her previous roles include leading human resources for Cisco in Europe and a variety of assignments at Cisco, Honeywell, AlliedSignal, and Prudential Financial.

Nicole received a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the College of William and Mary, and a master’s in business administration with a concentration in finance from Pepperdine University’s George L. Graziadio School of Business and Management.

Arvin Patel is a Strategic Advisor at American Kickboxing Academy, Exec VP/Chief Intellectual Property Ofcr at Rovi Corporation (now TiVo), and Chief Operating Officer at Intellectual Ventures and is based in San Jose, California. He has worked as Director, IP Specialist Group at Aurigin Systems Inc; Chief Intellectual Property Officer at Technicolor; and President at ORACO. Arvin studied at UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law between 1999 and 2000, Harvard Law School between 2014 and 2014, and University of California Berkeley between 1991 and 1994.

Mr. Michael A. Pierantozzi is a Chief Counsel, Invention Science Fund at Intellectual Ventures and is based in United States.

Mr. Russell C. Merbeth is a Chief Policy Counsel at Intellectual Ventures and is based in United States.

Amelia Buharin is a VP, Chief IP Counsel at Intellectual Ventures and is based in Greater Seattle Area. She has worked as Director, IP Litigation at EASTMAN KODAK CO; Intellectual Property Consultant at Pillsbury Company; and Legal Writing Instructor at UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA.
