About Madison Correctional Facility:
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Madison Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. The Madison Correctional Facility is a minimum security Correctional facility, of adult females. Madison Correctional Facility is located in Madison, Indiana. At Madison Correctional Facility, incarcerated individuals are involved in programming and work various jobs, both on grounds and off. The goal is that through treatment and rehabilitation, the facility will help prepare incarcerated women to re-enter their community with more skills and confidence than when they arrived.
Role Overview:
As a Correctional Officer at the Madison Correctional Facility, you will be responsible for working as a part of a team in a minimum security Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) facility for adult females. During a typical 12 hour shift, you will maintain the security of the unit as well as the safety of staff and incarcerated individuals, while ensuring daily activities and programs proceed on schedule. During the 2 week pay period, Correctional Officers will work 85.75 hours. This consists of 7 total shifts, including 1 weekend.
Salary:
This position starts at a $22/hour base pay + $1/hour of differential pay, equating to $1,972.25 biweekly or $51,278.50 annually. Candidates with relevant experience may qualify for a higher base pay. These figures do not account for any overtime pay an employee may earn.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
* Monitor assigned areas at various intervals for security of incarcerated individuals, count of incarcerated individuals, and security of buildings and grounds.
* Follow and ensure compliance with established security procedures.
* Manage incarcerated individuals in various work details including general clean-up of institutional grounds and buildings.
* Escort incarcerated individuals to and from various locations across the facility for food, medicines, work assignments, and recreation.
* Keep records and make reports on such matters as incarcerated individuals movements, activities, and rule violations.
* Search incarcerated individuals housing areas and visitors for possible unauthorized items.

What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
Difficulty of Work:
Your work is physically, emotionally and mentally demanding. As a Correctional Officer you must maintain constant vigilance for periods of up to sixteen (16) hours at a time. The environment tends to be stressful with a threat of physical harm or injury to oneself, coworkers, incarcerated individuals and/or the general public due to errors in judgement.
Physical Effort:
Depending on the duties performed or environment setting, frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and/or similar movements may be involved.
This role requires keen observational and hearing skills to stay alert for possible dangerous situations.

Manage the major giving donation cycle from prospect identification to gift closure, tracking progress and reporting on outcomes.
Donor Cultivation and Stewardship:
Cultivate relationships with existing and potential donors, understanding their philanthropic interests and aligning them with University priorities.
Implement effective stewardship strategies to recognize and appreciate donors, ensuring their ongoing engagement with the University.
Prospect Research and Analysis:
Conduct in-depth research on potential major donors to assess their capacity and inclination to give.
Analyze giving patterns and trends to identify new prospects and inform fundraising strategies.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Collaborate with colleagues in the Office of Institutional Advancement and other departments to coordinate fundraising efforts and maximize donor engagement opportunities.
Work closely with University leadership, faculty, and staff to gather relevant information and develop compelling proposals for major gift solicitations.
Data Management and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the University's database, tracking interactions, proposals, and donations.
Prepare regular reports on fundraising activities, donor engagement, and progress toward fundraising goals.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Experience with management of a donor database. Raiser's Edge experience preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software programs quickly.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and inspire donors and colleagues.

Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

At least two years of experience in higher education or the non-profit sector. Previous experience in fundraising, alumni relations, or IT is a plus.
Proficiency in using fundraising databases and software.
Knowledge and understanding of Kentucky State University's history, mission, and values is an asset.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.

Correctional Officers fill a critical role within correctional institutions by working together as a team to maintain safety and control of offenders.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
* Maintains control of the institution to provide safety and security of the facility inmates, staff, and general public by enforcing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
* Supervises inmate activities in housing units, dining areas, recreation and work areas.
* Attends to the medical, visitation, personal property, and recreational needs of the inmates.
* Inspects and patrols the grounds for contraband, unauthorized personnel, and for other security risks.
* Completes required reports and daily logs.
* Conducts inmate counts, security rounds, and searches.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be twenty years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. For the Department of Juvenile Justice, must successfully complete the Department of Juvenile Justice Training Academy within six months of employment. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work environment is hazardous due to working in a state correctional facility with convicted felons or in a juvenile detention facility. May be exposed to hazards and dangers associated with operating a motor vehicle while providing transportation services.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
