About this Position
The Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO) manages the university's chemical hygiene and chemical safety programs as required under OSHA, DOT, federal, state, and local regulations and is responsible for laboratory surveys and the OSHA Laboratory Standard Chemical Hygiene Plan program. The CHO coordinates or assists in the coordination of Environmental Health & Safety training programs, including bloodborne pathogen, managing chemicals in the workplace, hazardous materials, and chemical shipping programs. The position will serve on the Institutional Biological and Chemical Safety Committee (IBC). The position will also be the chemical/industrial hygiene/toxicology specialist and will do protocol chemical risk assessments. The CHO will manage the chemical inventory database system. The position also provides support to the Occupational Safety Program, Environmental Compliance Program, and Occupational Health Program.
Additional areas of responsibility:
Manage all activities related to the use of hazardous chemicals in laboratories to ensure they are conducted in a safe manner as well as in compliance with OSHA regulations as specified in 29 CFR Part 1910.1450.
Manage laboratory surveys and actions to remedy faults and remediate.
Manage testing of fume hoods, safety showers, eye washes, and other safety devices.
Work with principal investigator's (PI's) to develop, review and approve Job Hazard Analysis, Standard Operating Procedures and Chemical Hygiene Plans detailing all aspects of proposed research activities that involve hazardous materials.
Work with the PI's on the approval process for the purchase of highly toxic, reactive, carcinogenic or other inherently hazardous materials.
Investigate and complete a report for chemical related incidents and exposures in their departments.
Provide guidance with personal protective equipment selection based on the findings in the job hazard analysis.
Disseminate chemical safety information throughout the university via emails, posting, and other forms of communication.
Provide general chemical safety guidance to university staff, students and faculty.
Maintain the university's Laboratory Safety Manual.
Maintain a current template for the Chemical Hygiene Plan and Standard Operating Procedure. Provide training for all laboratory workers in the university.
Oversee the university's bloodborne pathogen program.
Assist with ergonomic assessments and indoor air quality issues.
Due to communication expectations of the position, the employee will be required to carry a department-issued cell phone while performing assigned duties.
Position will work anywhere from clean to dirty atmospheres and under all types of conditions and weather.
Position handles all types of hazardous materials, including, but not limited to, flammables, acids, caustics, carcinogens, pesticides, teratogens, explosives, etc. Also, obtains and analyzes samples of dangerous chemicals and substances. Performs chemical spill cleanups and assists with waste chemical pickups.Must pass post-offer physical exam and annually thereafter.
Must be able to pass a respiratory fit test, be able to work while wearing a respirator, and comply with OSHA requirements. Regular exposure to physically demanding and hazardous tasks, including walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, lifting, standing, reaching, and climbing stairs/ladders. Must be able to lift in excess of 30 pounds.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Three years of safety and regulatory compliance experience in a laboratory or industrial setting.
Experience with of knowledge of preparing technical reports.
Experience in issue analysis and creative problem solving, along with the ability to provide strategic options and recommendations.
Experience with different types of training media, such as online and PowerPoint.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Valid Driver's License. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.
Certified Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO) Certification within a year of hire.
Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED. If needed, certifications will be provided by the department within six months of employment. Additional recertifications will be provided throughout employment as required to remain up to date.
24-hour HAZWOPER training. If needed, certifications will be provided by the department within six months of employment. Additional recertifications will be provided throughout employment as required to remain up to date.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Ability to communicate well (verbally and written) with good report writing skills.
Must be detail-oriented and able to interact well and work with people.
Must have working knowledge of laboratory related OSHA regulations, industrial standards, and best work practices.
Ability to work with a variety of backgrounds at all levels within the University.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Computer skills to include operation and utilization of various software programs to include MS office.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to express ideas effectively through public speaking.
Strong time management, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.

More than three years of related experience in a college or university setting. Experience creating and delivering chemical hygiene, laboratory risk management, and regulatory compliance training programs for diverse groups. HAZWOPER training (24-hour).

1. Extensive knowledge of a comprehensive range of intelligence research methods, techniques, and practices and advanced analytical principles, concepts, and methods used to identify and analyze complex multi-source intelligence information to produce detailed cyber intelligence capabilities and cyber threat assessments, identify cyber-related intelligence deficiencies, and advocate for customers cybersecurity requirements.
2. Extensive knowledge of acquisition and sustainment policy and guidance, and the role cyber intelligence plays throughout a weapon system's life cycle; acquisition and sustainment intelligence analysis mission and strategy; and the roles and responsibilities of field intelligence offices in support of DAF research laboratories, acquisition program offices, and life cycle management, nuclear, sustainment, and system testing enterprises.
3. Extensive knowledge of the intelligence cycle, intelligence policy and guidance, and the national intelligence community, Joint, DoD structure, organizations, and mission/functions, inter-relationships and operations-particularly as it pertains to cyber threat intelligence collection, analysis, and production.
4. Extensive knowledge of software development principles and processes as they relate to software development activities supporting acquisition and sustainment life cycles; to include an understanding of software development tools/systems and their associated vulnerabilities and susceptibility to insider or adversarial manipulation.
5. Comprehensive skill in conducting unbiased complex research, identifying appropriate available systems/data sources, and producing intelligence requirement assessments that answer specific tasks to link and leverage agency capabilities in support of customers' cyber threat and cyber risk management needs.
6. Expert skill in communicating effectively with others, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions related to the work, writing clear and concise intelligence products, and delivering written and/or verbal presentations to senior level audiences for decision-making purposes.
7. Expert ability to maintain control of classified material, quickly assimilate disparate data, render knowledgeable and accurate assessments of the implication of such data, and make decisions, estimates, and recommendations under conditions of urgency and pressure based on mature judgment and experience and present and/or defend a position effectively.

Come grow with us! The Oklahoma Forensic Center (OFC) located in Vinita, OK is a 24 hour/365 day secure inpatient forensic facility that provides jail competency services for the State of Oklahoma. Currently, OFC has 268 beds for consumers who have been found incompetent for adjudication or adjudicated as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. OFC is expanding with new construction to be filled in the Fall of 2025 adding an additional 84 beds. When completed, OFC will have a total of 352 beds to house consumers.
About the Position:
Here at the Oklahoma Forensic Center the Security department is hiring for Forensic Officers that would be assigned responsibilities at an inpatient behavioral health facility that may include, but are not limited to, the inspection of buildings and grounds for elimination of fire hazards, enforcement of laws, rules and regulations and providing security against acts of terrorism. This may include patrolling assigned premises to identify and correct fire hazards, providing assistance to employees, directing traffic, monitoring security cameras, performing walks of the units, assisting staff with the movement of consumers within the facility to assure safety, transporting consumers to appointments, off grounds if needed and responds and assists with medical emergencies or other calls from the units.

* If needed, will record video incidents to CD's/DVD's and prepare incident documentation for distribution to multiple approved Choctaw Nation Departments.

It is the primary responsibility of the Surveillance Operator to protect the integrity of all Table Games, Slot Machines, Cashier Cage, Count Rooms, ATM/Kiosk areas, Point of Sales (POS), currency escorts, and other related gaming areas. PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to work in an enclosed are with cool temperatures and low lighting. Must be available to work any hours and/or shift, including nights, weekends, holidays and rotating shifts, as assigned and/or according to business needs. The workplace is also under constant surveillance both inside and outside the facility. Must be able to operate in a mentally and physically stressful environment.
The Surveillance Operator may be exposed to the risks associated in attempting to resolve contentious issues with difficult guests and staff members. Must maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable on company's policy.

Correctional Officer:

This is the career level where employees are assigned responsibilities at the full performance level as a correctional security corporal, for providing security and control of inmates. Assignments are related to maintaining discipline and security among inmates, both within and outside the facility. Incumbents interpret and execute post orders.
Education and Experience
Correctional Officer:
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of the statutory requirements contained in Title 57 O.S., Section 510.A.2: “a. The minimum age for service shall be twenty (20) years of age. The Director shall have the authority to establish the maximum age for correctional officers entering service and b. possession of thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university; or possession of a high school diploma acquired from an accredited high school or GED equivalent testing program and graduation from a training course conducted by or approved by the Department and certified by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training either prior to employment or during the first six (6) months of employment.
Note: Successful completion of the GED test is based upon standards established by the Oklahoma Department of Education.
Corporal
Those identified for Correctional Officer plus 12 months of experience in correctional or security work for a governmental agency or private corrections agency.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of the fundamentals of English usage; of basic math; of reporting writing; of the use and care of firearms; of proper restraint methods and techniques; of self-defense methods; of the methods and objectives of discipline required for inmates under restraint; and of the psychology of inmate behavior. Ability is required to evaluate situations and adopt effective courses of action; to exercise alertness and be able to act quickly and effectively in an emergency situation; to follow oral and written instructions; to gather and organize facts and complete clear, concise reports; to communicate effectively; to establish and maintain effective working relationships; to maintain proficiency with firearms; and to assess and manage conflicts within the inmate population.
Special Requirements
Applicants/employees in this job family shall be subject to the following additional requirements:
Satisfactory completion of minimum testing or professional evaluation through Human Capital Management to determine the fitness of the individual to serve in the position with written evaluations submitted to the Department of Corrections.
Satisfactory completion of pre-employment and annual physical examination that is consistent with and indicative of the conditions required to perform the job based upon the guidelines established by the Department of Corrections.
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment in order to perform necessary travel.
Applicants will be subject to drug testing.
Applicants must be willing and able to work any assigned shift or day of the week, and additional shifts as required.
NOTE: Employees in this job classification may be designated as peace officers by the Director pursuant to 57 O.S. § 510 and required to meet the training and screening requirements conducted by the Department and certified by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training to include any psychological or physical testing required for eligibility to complete a basic police course or be certified as a peace officer. Training will include physical conditioning, self-defense tactics, and receipt of an application of oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray. (70 O.S. § 3311).
No person who has been found guilty of or pled guilty or nolo contendere to any offense requiring registration under the Sex Offenders Registration Act is eligible for employment as a peace officer. (57 O.S. § 589 (C)).
No person who has been convicted of a crime of moral turpitude who has not received a full pardon from the proper agency is eligible for employment as a peace officer. (70 O.S. § 3311).
No person who has been convicted of a nonviolent felony and who has not received a full pardon from the proper authority, or who has been convicted of any other felony offense, is eligible for employment in this job classification. (21 O.S. § 1283(B)).
No person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, who has not been pardoned for, or had the conviction expunged or set aside, or is subject to a court order that restrains the person from harassing, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner or the partners' child or engaging in other conduct that would place an intimate partner or the partners' child in reasonable fear of bodily injury and includes a finding that the person is a credible threat; or who has been dishonorably discharged from any branch of the armed services is eligible for employment in this job classification. (18 U.S.C. § 922).
The Department of Corrections has determined that some positions in this job family are safety sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8.
