In support of the university's mission and objectives, the Patrol Officer ensures the safety and security of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, administration, and physical assets during assigned shifts. This role focuses on creating a secure environment by deterring crime and unsafe behaviors through proactive patrol techniques and crime prevention strategies. Additionally, the officer is responsible for identifying violations of local, state, and federal laws, enforcing university policies and procedures, and responding to, investigating, and documenting crimes, disturbances, and other public safety incidents at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
Public Safety and Public Engagement
Employs a variety of proactive patrol techniques and strategies in a vehicle, by bicycle, or on-foot to foster increased safety and security of all PBA-affiliated persons and property.
Engages in community-oriented problem solving, community-oriented policing, and other crime prevention measures.
Performs a number of community service functions including, but not limited to, conducting safety escorts, completing inspections and reports regarding safety hazards, and other physical access control assistance.

Qualifications
EDUCATION:
High school diploma, required, associate degree or college credit hours in a public safety related field preferred. Valid Florida Driver's License required and must be maintained throughout employment, preferred. Current CPR with AED certification, preferred. First Aid Training Certification, preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
1+ years of prior experience in campus public safety, law enforcement, or related public safety discipline, preferred.

Special Requirements
Employees in this classification are scheduled for shift assignments, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Under administrative direction, the purpose of the position is to perform administrative support functions for the processing of inmate property and valuables to include intake, inspection, storage, and chain of custody at the time of their incarceration within Department of Detention. Position is responsible for maintaining detailed documentation of inmate assets during the term of incarceration and for their return at the time of release or transfer to another agency. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
General:
Maintain a pleasant, friendly, and welcoming attitude toward all external and internal customers at all times.
Observe all guest and team member activities in all monitored areas, including, but not limited to, casino floor, cage, count room, restaurants, and back of house common areas.
Monitor activity for criminal activity, violation of Florida gaming regulations, and/or violation of company policies and procedures.
Appropriately record activities and report observations to company and Florida Racing and Gaming Commission officials.
Appropriately record surveillance activity in daily log.
Maintain strict confidentiality relative to financial information, company policies and procedures, and team member and guest information.
Have complete knowledge of all casino events and promotional activities.
Keep work area in a clean and orderly manner.
Adhere to regulatory, departmental, and Company policies in an ethical manner and empower and require others to do the same.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required by business operations, including late nights, weekends, and holidays; shifts may change.
Assist in maintaining a spotless casino by disposing of any cups, glasses, bottles, or other items left on the floor by guests.

Operating Principles: Ensure at all times operating principles are being adhered to: Clean - Keep all areas clean and pristine; Safe - Follow all safety policies and procedures; Friendly - Use customer courtesy skills of Family Style Service to provide superior guest service; Fun - Be interactive with all internal and external guests while maintaining professional standards.
Tools and Technology: Computer station with email, Microsoft office software, Dallmeier digital system, casino tracking programs (CMS, Micros, SDS), surveillance/security computer database, two-way radio, telephone with voice mail system, fax, and copier.
Licensure: Must be able to obtain and maintain a 1055 Slot/Cardroom/Pari-Mutuel Individual Combo Slot License. Must be at least 21 years of age. Three (3) years of tax returns required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: One to two years of surveillance experience preferred. Gaming industry experience is preferred.
Knowledge: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Knowledge of all gaming regulations and internal controls for all casino departments, promotions, games, and events. Knowledge of surveillance equipment, including CCTV cameras and monitors, alarm systems, and listening devices. Knowledge of casino games and internal controls. Knowledge of gaming laws and regulations.
Skills: Ability to write clear and concise reports using correct grammar and punctuation. Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, ask questions as appropriate, and not interrupt at inappropriate times.
