Job Description:
We're looking for someone to join our training team who is a strong writer with a passion for clarity and helping people learn. Ideally, you have experience designing and building online job aids and references, and writing materials that support classroom training events or content for e-learning solutions.
Our team develops and maintains training programs that graduate high performing buyers and inventory planners in the Retail department at Client.com.
We have technical expertise to help us build interactive, online solutions for on-the-job training, but we need your thoughtful communication and people-skills.
We are looking for a writer and self-driven learner who can dive deep into complex content about our tools and systems, and then think through the best way to help other people learn them.
You must be able to:
* Collaborate effectively with subject matter experts to define learning objectives.
* Perform needs analysis and evaluate existing documentation to identify the most appropriate training approach and content to meet the demands of the learning objectives and audience.
* Plan and write content for training programs using instructional and distribution methods (online, classroom or blended) that best suit the content.
* Create engaging and valid trainee evaluation tools that prove successful knowledge transfer.
* Build processes and templates to minimize the development time for new training materials, and to help others participate in our development cycle.
* Help maintain existing programs to ensure the content remains complete and relevant
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-tasked, high energy environment. They will be a creative and analytical problem solver with a passion for helping people learn and for finding simple ways to convey complex ideas. 7+ years of relevant experience.
You have some or all of the following: knowledge and application of instructional theories, adult learning, on the job learning, knowledge management theories, and principles in both on-line and classroom instruction. Alternately, if you have experience as a technical writer and background in any educational environment, and a desire and aptitude to learn about instructionaldesign, you may be the right person for our team. Either way, you have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently.
Additional experience and competencies that are strongly preferred include:
* Fluency in all Microsoft Office applications, HTML and Photoshop
