Position Summary:
The Domestic Violence Advocate works in a variety of environments to provide outreach, crisis intervention, safety planning and referrals for victims of domestic violence. Advocates may be located in police agencies, courts, CPS, or in other non-traditional social work environments.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
Provide telephone and in-person crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, counseling and referrals to victims of domestic violence

are part of our Emergency Mental Health Response Services team. Summary Description: The Sr. Residence Counselor is responsible for tasks relating to the daily operation of the licensed residential services. Ensure accurate and timely completion of all documentation for themselves and residence counselors.
Attend treatment team and admission/discharge meetings. Attend other community meetings or events to maintain a collaborative, effective working relationship with other community agencies, organizations, groups, and/or individuals.
Ensure that fire drills are conducted and documented. Follow other safety-related practices and events as required or mandated.
Order, store, inventory, and use supplies in accordance with program needs and accountability procedures. Follow and supervise all medication procedures.

Requirements:
A Master's or Bachelor's degree in a human services-related field with 1 year of experience in human services; OR an Associate's degree in a human services-related field and 4 years of experience in human services; OR a High School diploma and 6 years of experience in human services.
Experience working with diverse populations recovering from mental illness.
Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf culture is required in Nanuet House.
Valid Driver's License and driving record that is satisfactory to our insurance carrier.
Maintain New York State Defensive Driving certification within 30 days of hire.
Experience with EHR (Electronic Health Records).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management systems.
Fluency in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking).
Must be cleared and maintain clearance by applicable regulatory clearances as required.

Special Considerations:
Ability to use stairs (2 - 3 flights) within the residence.
Occasionally, the employee will have to carry items up and down the stairs and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Must be able to conduct an evacuation of the facility in the event of an emergency.
Position is scheduled 40 hours per week or less, which may include evenings and weekends.
The Sr. Residence Counselor will remain on site, on-duty until relieved.

Responsibilities
Provide teaching, monitoring and recovery oriented supports in accordance with OMH 593 and 595 including the following rehabilitative services; Assertiveness/Self-Advocacy Training, Community Integration/Resource Development, Daily Living Skills, Health Services, Medication Management Training, Parenting Training, Rehabilitative Counseling, Skill Development, Socialization, Substance Abuse Services, and Symptom Management.
Ensure that each resident on his or her caseload receives comprehensive planning in a person centered approach for; admission (including the completion of admission notes), ongoing recovery oriented services, and discharge.
Observe, monitor, document, and report resident behaviors as well as their progress in accordance with agency standards.
Assist Residents in the preparation of nutritious meals, including food preparation when needed.
Assist in planning, implementation, and support of recreational activities.
Provide safe transporting of resident when needed.
Complete household chores assigned by supervisor to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
Supervise and document resident medications in accordance with agency policies.
Perform any other duties necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the community residence.
Qualifications
RC I: High school diploma or GED required. Human services experience preferred. Driving record that meets agency's “clean driving record policy”. Must be at least Eighteen (18) years of age.
RC II: QMHS Standard. Bachelor's degree in Human Services, or an Associate's degree in Human Services with 3-years FT related paid experience, or a High school diploma and 5 years related paid experience. Work Environment
The DePaul Batavia Apartment Treatment Program provides consumers with the highest level of independence in a program licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health. The program is designed to be a preparatory step before the consumer begins to live independently within the community. An emphasis is placed on increasing personal initiative and self-reliance. Staff make routine visits and are available 24-hours a day in case of an emergency.
