Leidos is hiring licensed behavioral health professionals to join our Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) Child and Youth Behavioral team to support NAS Whidbey Island, WA.
This is a 9 month school calendar position that will reflect the school calendar that you would support.
Join the mission to support U.S. military service members and their families as they work through important military life adjustments while serving their country. The Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC) position offers a unique opportunity to serve a vital role, in providing non-medical support, which includes counseling, consultation, and outreach, to eligible faculty, staff, parents, children, and youth. Non-medical counseling is preventive in nature and aims to address and provide solution focused approaches to issues before they become greater challenges.
Military children face unique emotional and environmental challenges due to the stress of military life. This is an opportunity for you to reach them where and when you are most needed.
CYB-MFLC responsibilities include:
Work at school(s) that are populated by military youth and teens.
Observe, participate, and engage in activities with youth and/or teens; provide coaching, guidance, and support to staff and parents; and model behavior management techniques for staff and parents.
Offer presentations to address social skills development and social emotional learning that is crucial for youth and teenage development.
Promote creativity and positivity through approved materials.
Build rapport with parents and families by attending installation and community events.
Help with transition adjustments, such as a new school and a new home.
Participate in regular in-service training or other contract activities as assigned.
Communicate information regarding trends and issues at assigned installation to Team Leads.

Responding to emergent situations in any physical location on a military installation

Due to the nature of working on military installations or related worksites, counselors may need to comply with various site-specific requirements to work at designated locations.
Environment:
At the direction of the Department of Defense, duties are performed in multiple indoor locations (approximately 60%) and outdoor locations (approximately 40%). The indoor locations are located within a school setting controlled by the state and/or Department of Defense Education Activity. The outdoor locations frequently involve traversing over uneven grassy, gravel, and/or dirt areas, ascending/descending stairs, and exposure to the weather.
Licensure Portability

Under the recent National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), licensed Military and Family Life Counselors may provide non-medical counseling services to military families at any location in a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or a territory or possession of the United States, regardless of which state the counselor is licensed in. Within the scope of the MFLC program, a counselor may hold any independent and clinical license recognized by the Secretary of Defense as an appropriate license for the provision of non-medical counseling services.
Minimum Requirements:
A master's degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD).
The candidate must hold a valid independent license in the mental health field from any US state or territory (LCSW, MHC, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist).
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must be able to pass a basic background check for employment, a Child National Agency Check, and Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance, commonly called a Public Trust clearance.

Position Summary:
Full-time Group Life Counselor position available for our Visions Youth Treatment Center in Bellingham, WA. Visions is an inpatient rehabilitation center designed to provide culturally sensitive chemical dependency services to high-risk adolescent females who require care and empathy to help in dealing with substance use disorder.
This is an entry level position that is part of the multi-disciplinary treatment team providing direct services to patients in a residential setting. Direct services may include the following: group, care, intake procedures and evaluation, individual and group counseling, milieu management, and supervision of patients. Services are provided to high-risk, co-occurring substance use and mental health.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports the Chemical Dependency Professional/Trainee in providing and referring clients to other treatment /service programs in the facility and in the community as needed.
Monitors the clients, log all activities in the log book, do laundry for youth clients, clean up, and be responsible for graveyard shift activities. Group Life Counselors will also assist counselors: They will attend groups with clients who are more volatile to provide extra support, attend AA meetings with clients, and monitor clients while the clients are completing housework and during quiet time. They will serve food if necessary.
Able to identify and categorize each patient's age-specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent, or geriatric patients.
Provides all physical care of patients required to meet their physical and emotional needs, consistent with agency policy and applicable licensing WAC's.
Completes daily logging, Extraordinary Incident Reports (EIR's), medication logging, etc. on time and accurately.
Other duties assigned as necessary by supervisor.
Education and/or Experience:
AA in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services or related field is required.
Candidate must have at least one-year experience working with high-risk or in treatment patient care.
BA preferred. Will be required to follow other instructions/duties as assigned by supervisor.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organization, and willingness to contribute to the group and team overall.
Proficiency in MS Office products and other medical software and electronic processes is a plus.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Qualifications
Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
HS graduate or equivalent required;
Prefer Bachelor's or Master's degree in social or health services field;

Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings, such as outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities.

The firsthand Guide leverages their knowledge of the community and shared life experience to inform their interactions with the community members we serve. Job Specifics
As firsthand Guide, you will:
Perform community outreach to individuals with serious mental illness, including visiting their homes and other locations within the local community where they spend time, such as clubhouses, drop-in centers, homeless shelters, hospitals, and emergency departments.
Empower individuals to identify and pursue their personal recovery goals by modeling and teaching safe and healthy coping strategies.
Engage in care coordination to identify health related social needs and connect individuals with local resources to address needs.
Assisting in successfully attending and completing clinical visits and assisting with telehealth access
Assist with gathering information required for obtaining benefits and services and facilitate warm hand-offs to other team members for assistance in navigating SSI/SSDI benefits and self-management support.
Address immediate follow-up needs identified by care team providers such as hospital post-discharge follow-up and support.
Promote and monitor individuals' success in adhering to their personally approved care plan and provide motivational interviewing support for their adherence to their informed medication and treatment choices

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The CMH Outpatient Therapist provides direct clinical services and case management to meet the therapeutic needs of children/teens and families, as part of an agency clinical team. The CMH Outpatient Therapist is responsible for maintaining required clinical documentation and billing information related to caseload, participating in required CQI activities, collaborating with community colleagues and treatment/support teams as appropriate, and engaging in supervision activities with supervisor.
Responsibilities
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessment and Care Planning:
Conduct diagnostic assessment identifying client and family strengths and needs.
Direct Clinical Service:
Develop, implement, and update client treatment plans as required, using appropriate therapeutic modalities to build on strengths and collaborating with client/family and natural and community supports.
Provide ongoing safety/crisis planning for clients and families.
Provide responsive crisis management.
Provide outreach services (e.g. in home, school, community) as appropriate to client need, treatment plan and safety considerations.
Case Management:
Identify and arrange for appropriate collaboration with other pertinent resources.
Appear in court, case meetings, school meetings, and others as required.
Consult as required with contracted minority mental health specialists and document consultations in client record.
Record Keeping and CQI:
Complete all paperwork according to agency policy, to include treatment plans, progress notes and appropriately coded event/service tickets, service level assessments, regular treatment plan reviews, transition summaries, and other documentation or correspondence required.
Participate as required in periodic utilization review process and other CQI activities.
Supervision and Training:
Consult with designated supervisor(s), peers, psychiatrist and others in community as appropriate for quality of care.
Seek consultation to manage/treat crisis situations.
Participate in training and professional development as required by agency and program.
Seek out additional training and support as needed, in consultation with supervisor.
Participate as integral part of agency clinical team to deliver individualized and tailored services to clients and function as peer support system to clinical colleagues.
Community Relations:
Attend appropriate community based networking meetings as appropriate and requested.
Access to and protection of PHI:
Responsible for upholding a culture of privacy and security in highly confidential work environment (HIPAA covered entity service area).
Complies with all CCSWW policies and procedures that involve access to and safeguarding of client Protected Health Information (all forms).
Qualifications
MINIMUM:
Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field.
Willing/able to obtain WA State Agency Affiliated Counselor Certification.
Experience working with children and families in a clinical setting.
Strengths-based orientation.
Reliable transportation, Washington State Driver's License and Current automobile insurance.

The Case Aide position offers the opportunity to work with youth in foster care as a positive support person engaged in their lives on an as-needed basis. You will provide case-related services to foster youth and families by assisting with transportation to appointments, participating in community-based activities and recreation, providing supervision and other service plan related duties as directed to address goals, youth needs and safety. The service area of this position is throughout Snohomish county and will require spending time with the youth in their community or home. Flexibility in scheduling is required and evening/weekend availability is preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Build strong relationships by doing recreational activities with clients, meeting clients' needs, being a positive role model, maintaining healthy boundaries, and responding appropriately to behaviors from a trauma-informed standpoint.
Plan activities based on clients' treatment goals, interests and abilities, length of shift, allotted budget, and purpose of shift.
Provide transportation for clients to and from appointments and/or activities throughout Snohomish county.
Provide enrichment activities in the community or in the foster home that supplement school work.
Communicate effectively with foster parents/guardians and Case Managers about how time was spent (face-to-face communication, accurate written documentation, phone calls, and occasionally texts).
Complete and maintain documents such as Case Aide Reports and Time Sheets.
Follow all guidelines related to clients' needs and safety and respond to all emergency situations as they arise.
Must be able to adjust job assignments when the supervision needs of individual children warrant.
Attend staff meetings and other mandatory trainings as required by Youthnet.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERTISE:
Must be at least 21 years old
Possess a valid Washington State driver's license and have proof of automobile insurance that meets the statutorily required minimum amounts of coverage;
Must have the ability to pass a Washington State criminal check and FBI fingerprinting if required;
Must have a high school diploma, GED or HSEC, preferred Associates Degree in Human Services or related field;
Have one year of experience working with children and families OR two years of social services education;
Have the skills and abilities to work successfully with challenging behaviors of children in care;
Have a basic understanding of family systems and child development;
Have effective written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills;
Possess the ability to work with diverse groups and populations;
Possess the ability to make objective, visual assessments of home conditions and crisis situations AND to communicate information appropriately;

Have the ability to interact as a team member;
Must be proficient with basic computer software, such as Microsoft Office suite.
