Our residential facility serves up to 120 women (with capacity for up to 20 children under 5 years of age) seeking recovery from substance use disorders.
The SUD Counselor III is an integral part of an interdisciplinary team that supports our clients through assessment of their needs and strengths in support of their health and recovery. SUD Counselor III will perform counseling in individual and group setting, deliver curricula in accordance with program specific requirements and case management, and assist clients in navigating systems of care while providing a supportive treatment environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Treatment Setting:
Maintain an assigned caseload of up to 25 clients, depending on the program staffing pattern and business needs, and provide individualized weekly counseling.
Facilitate group counseling sessions and community meetings.
Proactively link clients to both internal and external resources based on their treatment needs.
Teach classes on treatment-related topics to assist clients in meeting their treatment goals.
Collaborates with each caseload client and other available internal and external resources to develop/maintain treatment plans, transition plans, progress notes and appropriate updates in support of the health and recovery needs of the client.
Perform crisis intervention and communicate with the treatment team.
Follow up on clients' treatment progress.
Monitor and document client medication administration.
Ensure secure storage and proper accounting of client medications.
Accompany clients to offsite appointments as needed.
Assign client duties and sign off upon completion.
Motivate clients to fulfill their weekly obligations.
Support intake process and maintain supplies.
Collect, clean, or dispose of biohazard waste.
Disinfect and clean rooms and common areas.
Safety and Security:
Maintain safety and security of clients in the facility.
Perform periodic house runs.
Perform property and room searches.
Respond to medical emergencies including overdoses.
Perform substance use tests such as urinalysis and breathalyzer.
Observe clients and maintain observation logs.
Documentation:

Participates in Multi-Disciplinary Teams with County staff as needed.
Participates in quarterly CSF countywide peer review process to discuss service delivery and improve upon best practices.

SUMMARY

Facilitates a wide array of therapeutic interventions within individual/family therapy based on relevant EBPs and best practice models (e.g., TF-CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Positive Discipline, PCIT-PRIDE Skills, etc.).

Group Counselor - Residential Program

. North County Serenity House (NCSH), a residential program of HealthRIGHT 360, was founded in 1966 to provide substance use disorder services in the community. NCSH provides a gender-responsive and trauma-informed environment, using evidence-based and best practices that recognize and account for the role that trauma frequently plays in substance use and criminal histories of women. For clients with co-occurring mental illness, we provide integrated substance use and mental health services which treat both conditions as primary. Our residential facility serves up to 120 women (with capacity for up to 20 children under 5 years of age) seeking recovery from substance use disorders.
The Group Counselor plays a vital role within a multidisciplinary team, aiding clients by evaluating their requirements and capabilities to promote their well-being and rehabilitation. They conduct counseling sessions predominantly in group settings and occasionally one-on-one, lead educational activities, adhere to program guidelines when delivering content, handle case management duties, and help clients access care systems, all within a nurturing treatment atmosphere.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Service:
Facilitate education and group counseling sessions in residential, outpatient, or field depending on assignment and agency need.
Occasionally facilitate individual counseling sessions as assigned.
Provide orientation to group treatment culture and norms.
Utilize trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and evidence-based practices.
Transport clients when assigned.
Assist clients in navigating systems of care.
Treatment Setting:
Work collaboratively with treatment team members.
Seek consultation and supervision for challenging clinical circumstances.
Provide a supportive treatment environment.
Ensure groups start and finish on time.
Ensure that clients maintain compliance with group attendance and expectations.
Documentation:
Track client progress in group sessions.
Complete client urinalysis and document test results.
Write and complete progress notes in a timely manner.
Maintain compliance with clinical documentation standards, policies, and deadlines.
Administrative:
Maintain compliance with client care hours per week.
Arrange work schedule according to agency needs.
Respond to emails when appropriate.
Participate in meetings, supervision, and training opportunities.
Complete assigned training in a timely manner.
Maintain registration or certification compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Certification, or Licensure
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other related field preferred.
Registration or Certification as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor from an accredited California agency (CCAPP, CAADE, CADTP).
Valid First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Valid California Driver's License and access to registered and insured transportation.
Experience
Experience providing counseling sessions with individuals with co-occurring disorders in an individual or group setting.

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
* CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $6,221 - $11,105 per full-time month
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
