Position Summary
The Intake Assessor is a Licensed Counselor, under the supervision of the Intake Director, provides in-person risk assessment to assist the physician in identification of appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Intake Assessor is the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff. The Intake Assessor works with the Business Office regarding patient financial data and verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed, as well as with the UR Department for the certification of patients admitted.
Work Schedule: This position is for Day hours and/or Weekend hours ONLY!!
Must be available to attend the Full hospital and departmental orientations: Week 1: M-F (8 AM - 5 PM)
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Registered Nurse or Master's Degree in a human relations or other related field.
Experience: Preferably two or more years experience in intake assessment activities within an acute psychiatric setting. A minimum of two (2) years experience in a psychiatric hospital setting including customer contact.
Licensure: Licensed to practice in the State of Texas as a mental health professional. (RN, LMSW, LCSW, LPC or LPCI)
Additional Requirements: A working knowledge of the DSM-IV and the Mental Status Exam. A working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field. May be required to work flexible schedule and overtime as needed; may be required to work on-call as needed.

Clients include children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in the home, community, clinic, and school settings. The Behavioral Technician will collect data on programs and assist with parent training. The Behavior Technician works under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.
The principles of behavior analysis are to treat patients who have difficulties with socially significant behaviors. These may include social skills, reading, communication, personal self-care and work skills.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
Plans and implements intervention strategies using direct therapy, monitoring and consultation under the supervision of a BCBA.
Teaches targeted behaviors using specialized techniques that may include reward systems, incidental teaching and pivotal response training.

Work involves planning, coordinating, and implementing substance abuse counseling activities, and coordinating with other departments, divisions, agencies, and community organizations to ensure the maximum utilization of resources available for chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation. Facilitates substance abuse program services as directed and approved by the SAS Program Director and the counselors immediate supervisor - SAS Clinical Manager. Screens and coordinates admissions into Center outpatient adolescent and adult substance abuse services. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. HFC incorporates principles of trauma-informed care, which includes cultural sensitivity, in all areas of service delivery. Education, Training, and Experience (including licensure and certification)
Must hold at least a high school diploma or GED (an associate degree or more advanced degree preferred) and have current full licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or LPC Intern, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or LMFT Associate, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker by the Texas Department of State Health Services. If a LPC Intern or LMFT Associate, individual must comply with terms of that supervision as outlined in the state of Texas licensure requirements. All individuals must meet the educational and experience exemptions/waivers as outlined in DSHS chapter 450.109, pass criminal history standards which includes finger prints as described in 450.115, sign a written agreement to abide by the ethics contained in 450.121, and be worthy of public trust and confidence as determined by Department of State Health Services. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen to work with this population. Must have current drivers license and be insurable under Center insurance. Knowledge of chemical dependency, chemical abuse that is inclusive of alcoholism and drug addiction as treatable diseases, workable knowledge of the DSM-5 to support diagnoses relating to substance abuse and mental health disorders, co-dependency, relapse prevention, family dynamics, support groups in the community setting, and related disorders. Possess knowledge of counseling techniques, importance of evidence based practices, willingness to implement these practices; and knowledge of recovery processes.

What will you be doing your role?
Provide therapy services (including play therapy) to refugee children, including elementary, middle school and high school students.
Provide therapy to clients who have experienced trauma.
Set appointments with parents and schools and communicate with them regarding scheduling.
Assist clients in developing treatment plans that help improve client's level of cognitive functioning and attain elevated quality of life.
Develop, update and review treatment plans with clients.
Prepare progress notes, session reports, and document contact with clients.
Develop individual client goals and measure level of goal attainment for evaluation purposes.
Complete all necessary paperwork to ensure quality service and compliance with funding requirements.
Identify client specific needs and respond to crisis as needed to meet immediate mental health needs.
Utilize professional interpreters in therapy sessions as needed.
Delivers services and support that reflect the unique cultural values of each client.
Understand what refugees have been through as well as their various cultural backgrounds, and work to meet their unique needs in therapy sessions.
Prepare and submit all required reports.
Assess and respond to crisis calls as needed.
Maintain licensure and adhere to ethical guidelines established by the licensing board.
You will operate independently as needed and exercise independent judgment in completing assignments.
Travel to and from off-site therapy locations as needed.
Are you the next Child/Adolescent Clinical Counselor?
Master's in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work required
Licensed in the State of Texas required
Experience in counseling clients with trauma, preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English required
Bilingual in current refugee language preferred
Knowledge and ability to implement a number of treatment modalities in working with a broad range of clients.
Knowledge of theories relating to working with children and families including systems theory.
Transportation to and from off-site therapy locations
