    Substance Abuse Counselor FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt/Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Clinical Director of Outpatient & Addictions POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None POSITION OVERVIEW: The Substance Abuse Counselor is accountable for assessing and providing treatment to individuals with substance abuse difficulties, including abuse of tobacco, alcohol, or other drugs. The counselor's job role is to provide goal-directed, client centered help to clients with an addiction by educating them on the skills or the mechanics to deal with their addiction. ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provides services in order to maintain required productivity/billing standard of 1200 hours per year (Exempt), 70% of hours worked (Non-Exempt) 2. Conducts comprehensive assessments through the use of client interviews, review of records, and conferring with other professionals. 3. Counsels clients' in group or individual sessions to help them to cope with any substance abuse problems. 4. Counsels and helps family members to aid them in dealing with, supporting, and understanding the client. Engagement of family in treatment whenever possible. 5. Develops and implements treatment plans with client participation. Monitors, evaluates, and records client progress with that of treatment goals. 6. Modifies treatment plans depending on the progress in client status. 7. Refers patients, clients, or families to community resources available for treatment or other support services. 8. Works efficiently and proficiently with the KDADS and MCO systems, ensuring documentation for initial and ongoing treatment. Discharges clients in system per requirements. 9. Meets deadlines and ensures accuracy of various report/paperwork, mileage records, and electronic timesheets. 10. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of service provision. Completes progress notes in a manner that individualizes each note, reflecting appropriate interventions and progress towards treatment goals. 11. Assumes responsibility for the adequate delivery of treatment services to clientele. Including supervising all activities within group, both directly and through appropriate delegation. 12. Maintains confidentiality of records relating to client's treatment. Adherence to ethical standards as stipulated in the Kansas SRS Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselor Code of Ethics and BSRB Code of Ethics. 13. Initiates discharge planning with clients to facilitate termination, appropriately documenting in the record. 14. Learns about new developments in the field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies. 15. Maintains training and requirements for licensure per the BSRB. 16. Reviews notes for peer mentor(s) and signs off on notes. Also provides weekly coaching/staffing with peer mentor(s). OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 1. Maintains acceptable overall attendance record, to include department staff meetings, agency meetings, and trainings as required. Ensures appropriate notification to supervisor for absences and ensures that work is covered. Flexible in work schedule when needed. 2. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Substance Abuse Counselor must be licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board, at least 2 years' experience in the substance abuse field or similar field. Must meet eligibility for approval of 3 rd party payer systems and apply for a variety of insurance panels. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The Counselor will demonstrate an expertise and an active understanding of all components of treatment with accordance with state standards. Must be proficient in different evidence based treatment models and understand best practice information. A valid Kansas drivers license and access to personal vehicle required. Free Clinical Supervision toward Clinical Licensure Excellent benefits package including options for pet insurance. *Work collaboratively with your supervisor to have a healthy work-life balance Counties Served: Shawnee, Pottawatomie, Jackson, and Jefferson Counties RESPONSIBILITIES: Family Therapist I and II reports to a Family Clinical Manager and will be part of a collaborative, supportive, close-knit team, that works with youth and families in the Kansas City region and surrounding counties. The therapist applies the Family Therapy (FFT) model in their work, including participation in ongoing consultation with FFT LLC and the treatment team. The Family Therapy model is an in-home and evidence-based model that engages with families by demonstrating immediate responsiveness to their needs and maintaining a strength-based relational focus. Services will primarily be focused in the home and the community with in-office and telehealth available if needed. This position includes traveling to clients' homes and communities. QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Master's degree and professional licensure (e.g., LMSW, LCSW, LSCSW, LPC, LCPC, LMFT, etc.). The ideal candidate will be creative, and flexible, have a high level of integrity, work well autonomously, and have excellent time management skills. Must be at least 21 years of age and pass a background check, and physical and drug screening. This position also requires a valid driver's license and proof of current vehicle insurance. Salary: $48,000.00 - $53,000.00 annually (Starting salary depends on education and experience) Bonus: $1000 of the sign-on bonus will be paid on your first paycheck and the additional $1500 will be after 12 months of service.
