Description
Under close supervision, provides psychosocial support needed to cope with substance disorders and mental illnesses.
With a focus on group dynamics and building a therapeutic environment, provides education, crisis management, skills-based training, and counseling services.
Designs counseling/education services that meet the individual needs of individuals served.
Participates in substance abuse training and acts as a direct consultant to staff members providing clear and meaningful feedback.
Educates families/significant others on the addiction and recovery process and facilitates family support sessions as needed.
Education Requirement
Master's degree in behavioral health field and a Georgia license as LCSW, LPC, LMFT are preferred. LMSW, LAPC, LAMFT and recent graduates with a Master's in a behavioral health field are also accepted.

VI. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides a nurturing environment and close, intensive supervision and security for female adolescent residents in the residential treatment program
i. Assures resident's basic needs are met including meals, exercise, hygiene and sleep
ii. Teaches healthy living skills and conducts recreational and social activities enhancing skill acquisition and fun
iii. Monitors activities and whereabouts of residents
iv. Maintains a physically safe environment
v. Overseas and documents the Self-Administration of medication in an accurate and timely manner
vi. Assures that residents' daily schedule is followed
vii. Transport residents to medical, dental, counseling or other social service appointments.
2. Utilizes behavior management techniques appropriately with residents
i. Feedback is clear, specific, timely and respectful
ii. Effectively communicates behavior choices to residents, outlining the positive and negative consequences of their choices
iii. Communication is adjusted to meet the resident's development level and style of communication
iv. Maintain accurate documentation of the Level/Point System.
v. Issues out CBC (Competency Based Consequences) appropriately.
3. Employs relationship skills effectively
i. Models healthy interactions and respectful communication with residents
ii. Forms caring therapeutic relationships that are warm, nurturing, empathetic and unconditional
iii. Relates to residents objectively and fairly, giving consideration to the resident's individual needs

i. Write progress notes in accordance with contract standards for all individual and group skills training
ii. Write incident reports as needed and completed by shift closing.
iii. Documents all relevant contact with parents/resources, DJJ, DHR, DFCS, ORS and external agencies
iv. Completes daily shift communication and documentation at the end of each shift
v. Complete monthly site and safety reviews.
vi. Complete monthly fire, bomb threat, power failure, increment weather drills.
vii. Complete work order repair request
6. Meets regularly with Program Coordinator and/or Program Director actively participates in supervision.
7. Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

Job Summary
The Community Leader (CL) is a Gordon State College undergraduate student who serves as a member of the Housing and Residence Life team and is directly supervised by a Resident Director (RD). The CL job responsibilities and department expectations are divided into four major areas with each having equal value to job performance. Administrative
* Training: Attend and participate in training workshops, in-service sessions and staff meetings to further develop competencies in meeting the needs and challenges of a residential environment.
* Duty: Participate in the duty rotation schedule as scheduled by Resident Directors. Duty is daily, including scheduled weekends. Assist with Open House Events, Orientation Events, Admissions/Housing Tours.
* Reports and Paperwork: Complete forms and reports accurately and in a timely fashion.
* Emergency response: Provide emergency support as trained or directed. Address and report issues of risk or safety appropriately and in a timely manner.

The Community Service Board of Middle Georgia's Substance Abuse Step One Recovery program is seeking a qualified individual to serve as our next Substance Abuse Counselor. The Substance Abuse Counselor will be responsible for cross-collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the goals of the program and agency are met. The Substance Abuse Counselor will report to the Dublin, Georgia Annex.
Responsibilities of the Substance Abuse Counselor:
Provide direct and collateral substance abuse services in a group setting, per program standards, utilizing evidence-based interventions.
Complete services consistent with the requirements outlined by CSBMG, DBHDD, HFR, and applicable entities, which includes documentation to be completed as outlined per CSBMG policy.
Provide support to substance abuse clients and assist with recovery resources.
Provide individual sessions as needed.
Complete all documentation in a timely manner according to standards.
Obtain and maintain credentials and provide proof to supervisor and HR.
Facilitate Substance Abuse Groups.
Collaborate with the court system and probation officer when necessary and with proof of release of information.
Attend all supervision requirements for your certification.

JOB SUMMARY
The CDEP/M-SEA Lead Counselor position is a summer leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of counselors and providing direct supervision and support to academically talented high school students during the CDEP/M-SEA summer academies. The Lead Counselor ensures that all program activities-including classroom sessions, fieldtrips, and residential life-run smoothly and align with the academy's educational and behavioral expectations. This position requires the Lead Counselor to reside on campus with students and staff during academy weeks and to travel out of state for designated fieldtrips. Housing and meals are provided during the weeks students are on-site; accommodations are not provided for the weeks designated for office work.
MAJOR DUTIES
Provide supervision and leadership to all counselors; ensure they understand and carry out their duties effectively and professionally.
Assist instructors in the classroom as needed and ensure all counselors are fulfilling their classroom support responsibilities- such as setting up labs, distributing materials, and conducting study sessions.
Coordinate and oversee study sessions to ensure consistency in instruction and reinforcement of classroom learning. These sessions are instrumental in helping the students prepare for the post-test; students are required to score a minimum of 80% on the post- test in order to participate in subsequent summer academies. Additionally, the Lead Counselor and the team of counselors must evaluate each student's notebook to make sure they are staying on task with notetaking.
Monitor student academic progress, behavior, and well-being; address concerns promptly and report any major issues to the Program Coordinator or Assistant CDEP Director.
Research academy topics and vocabulary prior to each academy to ensure a thorough understanding of the material. The Lead Counselor ensures that all counselors do the same and that creative methods (presentations, songs, skits, etc...) are integrated into student learning activities to make learning fun and engaging for the students.
Collect, review, and compile counselor and student evaluations, test results, and program data for inclusion in the final report for each academy. Provide a comprehensive written summary of student outcomes, counselor performance, and recommendations for program improvement.
Coordinate and guide counselors in preparing for the closing ceremony, ensuring that student presentations effectively highlight key learning experiences from the academy ceremony.
Oversee logistics for all fieldtrips, including preparation of materials (i.e. coolers, first aid kit, meals, water, etc...) and ensuring that student medications and health needs are appropriately managed (i.e. inhalers, EpiPen, allergy medication, etc...)
Participate in daily staff meetings to assess the events of the day, address issues, and plan for the next day.
Reside in the housing provided for each academy to maintain continuous supervision and support of students and staff.
Perform other duties as assigned by the CDEP Director and/or Assistant CDEP Director
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
Lead Counselor will sit most of the time during the classroom sessions, however, there are periods during the class sessions that all counselors are expected to stand in order to assist the instructor, participate in an activity, or help students.
Must be physically capable of hiking and walking extended distances over varying terrain during fieldtrips.

The CDEP/M-SEA Lead Counselor position is a summer leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of counselors and providing direct supervision and support to academically talented high school students during the CDEP/M-SEA summer academies. The Lead Counselor ensures that all program activities-including classroom sessions, fieldtrips, and residential life-run smoothly and align with the academy's educational and behavioral expectations. This position requires the Lead Counselor to reside on campus with students and staff during academy weeks and to travel out of state for designated fieldtrips. Housing and meals are provided during the weeks students are on-site; accommodations are not provided for the weeks designated for office work.
MAJOR DUTIES
* Provide supervision and leadership to all counselors; ensure they understand and carry out their duties effectively and professionally.
* Assist instructors in the classroom as needed and ensure all counselors are fulfilling their classroom support responsibilities- such as setting up labs, distributing materials, and conducting study sessions.
* Coordinate and oversee study sessions to ensure consistency in instruction and reinforcement of classroom learning. These sessions are instrumental in helping the students prepare for the post-test; students are required to score a minimum of 80% on the post- test in order to participate in subsequent summer academies. Additionally, the Lead Counselor and the team of counselors must evaluate each student's notebook to make sure they are staying on task with notetaking.
* Monitor student academic progress, behavior, and well-being; address concerns promptly and report any major issues to the Program Coordinator or Assistant CDEP Director.
* Research academy topics and vocabulary prior to each academy to ensure a thorough understanding of the material. The Lead Counselor ensures that all counselors do the same and that creative methods (presentations, songs, skits, etc...) are integrated into student learning activities to make learning fun and engaging for the students.
* Collect, review, and compile counselor and student evaluations, test results, and program data for inclusion in the final report for each academy. Provide a comprehensive written summary of student outcomes, counselor performance, and recommendations for program improvement.
* Coordinate and guide counselors in preparing for the closing ceremony, ensuring that student presentations effectively highlight key learning experiences from the academy ceremony.
* Oversee logistics for all fieldtrips, including preparation of materials (i.e. coolers, first aid kit, meals, water, etc...) and ensuring that student medications and health needs are appropriately managed (i.e. inhalers, EpiPen, allergy medication, etc...)
