CMHA is looking to hire a Clinician I or Behavioral Health Counselor for our Jail Diversion Forensic Counseling Program. This position will be located at 233 Main St. New Britain, CT 06051. Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-4:30PM. Compensation Range: Behavioral Health Counselor: The salary range for this position starts at $24.00 per hour. Clinician I: The annual salary range for this position starts at $57,000. The Clinician I is also eligible for a $5,000 sign-on incentive which will be paid $2,500 after 6 months and $2,500 after 1 year of employment. Compensation for each position is determined not only by years of relevant experience, education, and skills, but also by maintaining internal pay equity. Position Summary: Serves as an active part of a multidisciplinary team that provides assessment and therapeutic services to adults, children and/or adolescents who present with a wide range of significant behavioral health needs. Essential Responsibilities: Maintains all trainings and certifications as required by program model. Completes documentation within designated timeframes as established by CMHA and external regulatory agencies. Performs comprehensive intake assessment that results in diagnosis and recommendations for psychiatric and substance abuse treatment for adults and/or children. Completes assessment tools, integrates pertinent information to establish diagnosis, and analyzes data to create clinical formulation within designated timeframe. Performs individual, family and/or group treatment utilizing evidence-based practices to facilitate positive strength‐based change. Develops achievable goals with client, with measurable and behavioral objectives within designated timeframes. Monitors treatment progress and provide updates within identified timeframes and as clinically indicated. Collaborates with other providers by providing all pertinent clinical information in a timely manner. Responds to crisis situations and triages appropriately, communicating clearly with internal and external providers/stakeholders to meet presenting client needs. Provides referrals and linkage to community and internal resources as necessary to address client need. Completes documentation within designated timeframes as established by CMHA and external regulatory agencies. Secures reimbursement for services rendered by submitting accurate documentation in a timely manner. Adheres to all state, federal, Joint Commission and other oversight regulations. Position: Residential Counselor Department: PACES/Core Supervisor: Dean of Students/Student Support Services Coordinator Description: 12 Months - Benefits Eligible Union or NCB: Union SCOPE OF DUTIES Under the supervision of the Associate Director if Student Life, Dean of Students, and/or Coordinator of Student Support Services, the Residential Counselor is responsible for the supervision of children and adolescents during school and/or out-of-school hours and the assumption of other responsibilities as needed. PRIMARY DUTIES Responsible for the supervision of deaf and hard of hearing children and youth with special needs to include mental health and traumatic backgrounds as well as autism during in or out-of-school hours, including meals. Planning and carrying out activities designed to promote personal and social growth. Responsible for encouraging students to maintain good personal hygiene and attire, including bathing and feeding. Assist students with mobility. Encourage students to engage in extra-curricular activities. Implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS). Participation in planning and staff conferences with academic and residential staff. Participation in staff training and in-service activities, including Physical/Psychological Management Training (PMT), Trauma Informed Care (TIC), CPR, First Aide, OSHA and other applicable workshops. Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular and frequent basis. Responsible for reports and daily logs. Works cooperatively with all teachers, residential staff and support staff. Must be able to communicate with students using American Sign Language. Other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Ability to work in a collaborative team setting.
