MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: One year experience working inorganized group activities such as camp counseling, Boy or Girl Scouting,school or church programs, coaching sports, working with mentally andphysically challenged youth and adults in a school, daycare, hospital orcorrectional/rehabilitative setting or any similarly related experience. Eachadditional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year ofrequired formal education.
License/Certification: Valid New Hampshiredriver's license required if responsible for transportingresidents/students.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must successfully completethe Juvenile Justice Academy within twelve months of employment from date ofhire as a Youth Counselor I.
2. Upon completion of the Juvenile Justice Academy, must attend 40 hours of in service training annually.
3. For promotion from YouthCounselor Trainee, in addition to the above, must meet the followingrequirements prior to promotions
4. Must have successfullycompleted the formal mentoring program.
5. Must receive a satisfactory performanceevaluation and be free of any disciplinary action.
6. Must have approval from direct Supervisor,Supervisor of Residential Operations and Residential Director.

The Residential Counselor encourages housing guests to actively participate in moving toward recovery by providing Intentional Peer Support services.

Day Shift: Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties
Provide perspective and understanding of guest's experiences including: symptoms of mental illness, effects and side-effects of medications, responses to and opinions of treatment, self and culture-wide stigma and discrimination, and experiences of recovery;
Be a role model and inspire recovery by instilling hope, building trust, demonstrating empathy, being present, and listening to guest's needs to set personal recovery goals, collaborate on care, answer questions about and foster engagement in treatment;
Promote responsibility, effective decision making, active participation in treatment and recovery processes, and participation in consumer self-help programs/consumer advocacy organizations;
Provide peer support activities and one-on-one support in the residence and community-based settings as deemed appropriate for the objectives, interventions and desired outcomes identified in the guest's treatment plan;

Qualifications and Skills

Have self-knowledge to manage one's own mental illness and be well along in their recovery (at least one year or greater in recovery, absent of any psychiatric crisis or hospitalization);
Strong commitment to the right and the ability of each person with a severe mental illness to live in normal community residences, work in market jobs, and have access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous supports and services;

All members of the Wildwood Leadership team will work one intersession throughout the course of the summer with time off adjusted accordingly. Otherwise, time off will be two hours per day and 24 hours between sessions, from Saturday to Sunday. Any additional time off will be discussed and agreed to prior to the start of camp training.

This short-term assignment is needed from February 2, 2026 to April 30, 2026 to support military members at Pease Air National Guard Base. Candidates must be local to the base or be willing to relocate to become local. Candidates must be licensed at the independent level as a Social Worker (LCSW), Therapist (LMFT), or Mental Health Counselor (LPC).
The Assignment Ready Counselor (ARC) will provide coverage in short-term, surge and on demand situations resulting from the Military needs such as a post-deployment event or to cover an existing assignment for counselors who are absent. The Summer ARC counselor position covers assignments during the May 15th through September 15th time period, coinciding with the school summer break. With minimal guidance and oversight, provides the full breadth of Adult or Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations. These services may include non- medical counseling, training/health and wellness presentations, consultation with parents, personnel at child daycare centers and schools, and consultation to installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting military personnel and their family members. ARC CYB counselors may be assigned to DoDEA schools and community schools and will need to have experience working in a school setting to qualify for ARC role in backing up a school position. CYB counselors may also be assigned to youth programs, summer camps, and on demand assignments. ARC adult counselors may be assigned to support MFLC services in a variety of military community and readiness centers, as well as on-demand and surge assignments. Provides specialized child abuse forensic interviews, crisis assessment, support, information and referral, advocacy services, case management and other resource assistance to patients and their non-offending caregivers. Provides case coordination and follow up with families as well as extensive community based multidisciplinary team (MDT) including Child Protection, Law Enforcement, Medical, Prosecution, Mental Health and Crisis Center Advocates.
Responsibilities
Provides specialized forensic interviews of child abuse cases referred to the Child Advocacy Center (CAC).
Utilizing a coordinated team approach provides child/family safety assessments and psychosocial assessment of family systems.
Provides crisis intervention/management, mediation, and de-escalation in high stress/emotion family situations.
Coordinates community CAC response to child abuse cases referred to our center by Child Protection and/or Law Enforcement agencies to assess safety needs, abuse concerns, and ongoing family system needs.
Assists and supports families in understanding child abuse dynamics, impact of trauma, and appropriate safety planning through our MDT response/approach.
Provides direct referrals/linkage to community resources to include but not limited to trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, family support groups, specialized child abuse medical evaluations, and advocacy (crisis center and criminal justice.)
Provides ongoing consultation, assessment, referral and coordination in cases of suspected child or dependent adult abuse or neglect, or other forms of domestic violence. Provides guidance/assistance in filing child abuse reports.
Coordinate, facilitate and serve as team leader for monthly MDT case review meetings to enhance and develop each case presented
Provide ongoing case management and support for families, as their case moves from intake at the CAC through the criminal justice system.
Through collaboration and appropriate subpoenas - provide fact and/or expert testimony in the child protection and/or criminal court systems.
Document necessary case information in the CAC case-tracking database.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field with five (5) years of experience required. Experience to include criminal justice with extensive experience working in the field of child abuse will be considered.
Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) or similar field preferred.
Strong knowledge base and understanding of child abuse dynamics, child development, trauma, and family systems.
Prior experience working with children and families whose lives have been impacted by child abuse/violence preferred.
Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong assessment, crisis intervention, and de-escalation skills.
