Supervision Training: Completed 8-hour supervision training and 3 hours of related continuing education. Position Description: Under the general supervision of the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, the Counselor - Latainx/Chicanx Student Community Focus position carries out a variety of duties: Direct clinical services to Cal Poly Pomona University students and the campus community at large; crisis intervention and consultation services to various University constituencies; working collaboratively with the Counseling Services Outreach Coordinator in developing and delivering prevention training and outreach services; the supervision, training and evaluation of pre and post-doctoral trainees (who also provide direct clinical services). Provide other services as designated by the Director, Associate Director, and/or the Associate Vice President of Student Wellbeing and Support or designated Administrator-in-Charge. In order to address the mental health needs of all students, the CAPS Counselor - Latinx/Chicanx Student Community Focus is dedicated to helping meet the needs of Latinx/Chicanx student population on campus, providing culturally-relevant support through direct services, workshops, and outreach programs. Services and programs developed is done in partnership and consultation with the Cesar E. Chavez Center for Higher Education to help elevate the experience of Latinx/Chicanx students on campus. While most of the after-hours crisis intervention involves phone consultation only, there may be times when the situation rises to the level where on-site intervention after-hours is necessary. The after-hours on-call rotation counselor duties include, but are not limited to: consultation over the phone with the student and/or impacted individuals, coming to campus after-hours if necessary and timely responding as appropriate to de-escalate the crisis situation, based on the clinician's best clinical judgment, professional standards, and ethics. In the event where the counselor provides services outside of regular business hours, the counselor and the CAPS Director (or designee) may consider the time taken outside of the normal work schedule and the counselor's proposed adjustment to the work week schedule to an average of 40 hours of work for the impacted work week. Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the assigned Supervisor, the Family Support Counselor has responsibility for providing support services to individuals and families as identified in the designated program and/or individualized plan. Essential Functions: Provides individual and family support services in accordance with the individualized plans. Services may include: providing referrals, advocacy and support to individuals and families (clients), linkage and case management services, support groups, educational services and support, transportation, home management assistance, recreational activities, and behavioral interventions and management, etc. Able to effectively engage and develop relationships with appropriate boundaries with assigned clients. Effectively manages a flexible community-based schedule. Completes all required documentation according to Agency and program standards within required time constraints. These may include: client contact forms, CANS, service activity summaries, data tracking, daily progress notes for all mental health services provided, mileage documentation, and other administrative duties, etc. Is an active member of assigned treatment teams. Assumes assigned responsibility within the team in accordance to program needs which may include operating effectively within a Teaming Model and act as a liaison with other community agencies and resources. Meets Agency service percentage standard reflecting expected time spent with clients, if applicable. Completes other assigned program operational tasks in accordance with supervisory directives. Minimum Required Education and Experience: Must possess a high school diploma/GED and two years' experience working with children, youth, adults and/or families preferred. Position/Program Requirements: Must possess a reliable mode of transportation to travel to assigned client homes, schools, offices, etc. If personal vehicle is the mode of transportation, must meet Agency's driving requirements. Must be physically and mentally fit in accordance with the Agency's Personnel Policy: Physical Fitness Standards and Examinations.
