Role: Responsible for the direct care and supervision of the youth residing at the Transitional Therapeutic Home, which may include infants, children and/or adolescents. Promote therapeutic, evidence-based, and culturally responsive program services, using DHS and JCS Models of Care and Practices as outlined in the CWES Contract.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities
Promote services and implement strategies and activities that are consistent with the DHS's Family-Centered Model of Practice, the DHS's Child Welfare Model of Practice, JCS's Model of Practice, and the DHS Guiding Principles with the goal of promoting each Child's Safety, Permanency, and Well-Being.
Provide direct care for youth, including participation in recreational activities, various housekeeping functions and other daily activities/routines/living skills which may include: hygiene, peer relationships, adult relationships, money management, school homework, room cleaning, laundry, chores, etc.
Successfully complete First Aid/CPR, CPI, Medication Manager training, and maintain current certifications. Administer medication according to Agency policy.
Participate in required trainings that will help inform and support the children/youth in our care.
Provide transportation, as necessary, for residents on a regular and emergency basis.
Serve as an adult role model. Treat all staff, residents and other visitors with dignity and respect.
Provide great customer service to all staff, residents, resident families, referring agencies, external professionals, and the public.
Communicate with supervisors as needed to obtain feedback related to the implementation of the individual care plans.
Record/document resident progress as directed.
Monitor residents to ensure all Transitional Therapeutic Home rules are being followed and provide appropriate consequences as needed.
Be familiar with each resident's case history and background.
Attendance at all mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
Be familiar with all policies, not only for Crittenton Center as a whole, but the specific policies and procedures for working the Transitional Therapeutic Home.
Adhere to Social Work Code of Ethics.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for Position:
A high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience in child welfare services is preferred. Criminal background and abuse check, as well as an up to date physical, including a TB test is required.

Preferred experience and expertise with youth.

Passion for working with at-risk youth and their families.
Amount of Travel & Other Special Conditions:

What You'll Be Doing:
Keep kids safe and supported during transportation and family visits.
Drive youth to scheduled visits and make sure they arrive on time-your reliability matters!
Supervise visits so conversations and interactions stay positive and appropriate, creating a safe space for families.
Observe and guide behaviors to help visits go smoothly and support healthy family interactions.
Document visits and transportation accurately and on time, and communicate with staff when issues arise.
Build trust with youth and families-your relationship skills help parents learn and model positive parenting.
Step in when needed to redirect behaviors or handle safety concerns during visits.
Be flexible-sometimes you'll respond on short notice to cover a visit or provide urgent transportation.
What You Bring:
Knowledge of state vehicle and driver safety guidelines.
Ability to drive often and for long periods using your own vehicle.(mileage reimbursement is provided)

Must be able to lift car seats and children up to 50 pounds Reasonably expected to have and maintain sufficient, agility, and endurance to perform all job requirements (including stressful situations - physically, mentally, and emotionally) encountered on the job without compromising their health and well-being or that of their fellow employees, youth, or families. Must have sufficient ability to see, hear, speak, and mobility to monitor youth. Duties are performed in both indoor and outdoor settings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to outside weather conditions and may be required to visit homes with substandard living conditions and domestic pets. Travel/transportation is a significant responsibility of this position. Must be a safe driver and transport youth and families in all seasons and weather conditions.
