Family Therapist
Intensive in-home counselor job in Santa Cruz, CA
My therapy practice has developed from working in the field for over 30 years. For the past 20 years, I have worked with individuals who have suffered with the most serious of life challenges and psychiatric conditions. I have seen how resilient people can be and how happiness can be determined so often by what perspective we take in life. I have learned how important it is to find gratefulness in the smallest of things and how love can transform the human spirit.
I have come to the conclusion that authentic acceptance of another, compassionate listening and the experience of being heard, and honoring the precious individuality of others are what heals. I have had the good fortune to have learned this over the years and have helped teach others the value of these truths.
For over 10 years I have had the opportunity to work with “therapists-in-training”; graduate students in the counseling field. I have appreciated the opportunity to mentor young therapists and have determined how important it is to me to help therapists prepare to work in this healing profession in a way that allows them to be accepting and non-judgmental, compassionate and loving, authentic and healthy in their approach to their healing work with others.
