Providing case management functions for students, which includes but is not limited to, coordination of parent meetings, emergency transportation requests, disciplinary actions such as detention/suspension, and coordination with outside therapists. Collaborating with teachers, parents/guardians, district personnel, and services providers to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems, always establishing and maintaining effective public relations and projecting a positive company image. Ensuring the use of positive teaching methods by conducting monthly climate data through direct observation of classroom staff's implementation of IEP goals and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans. Providing guidance, consultation, and assistance to Teachers in the development of classroom schedules, maintenance of student data systems and facilitation of student transition plans to assure appropriate curriculum, schedule, and services, based on each student's IEP and other applicable goals. Assessing student progress through consistent review of classroom data collection and recording systems and providing applicable training and guidance to classroom staff accordingly to address student needs. Functioning as a role model for effective teaching of students as well as for communication and problem solving with staff, reinforcing the School's emphasis on behavior analytic, empirical approach to education, the extensive use of data in decision making, and the use of positive reinforcement to achieve maximum performance when working with students and co-workers. ‖ Qualifications Required: Master's degree or higher in educational counseling, social work or a closely related field of study. Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a school counselor, school social worker or related credential. Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL professional educator (PEL) endorsement. Minimum 2yrs prior experience working with individuals with emotional disorders and/or challenging behaviors, preferably in an education setting. To learn about our programs go to ***************************** POSITION SUMMARY The Adult and Family Counselor is responsible for providing trauma-informed individual, family, and group counseling services for adults, youth, and children at Between Friends. This position is also responsible for promoting the program's counseling services and offering trauma-informed services to the community. RESPONSIBILITIES Program-Clinical (70%) Provides individual, group, and family counseling services, crisis intervention, case management, and referrals to children, youth, and adults as determined by client and community needs. Carry a caseload of at least 15 individual clients and facilitate at least one group per week. Plans, implements, and evaluates the counseling services for adults and their families in coordination with the Counseling & Support Services Manager Helps victims of domestic violence understand their rights and the legal remedies available to them under the Illinois Domestic Violence Act Assists clients in obtaining a referral to file Crime Victim's Compensations Provides outreach and education to the community about the services available to teens, children and adults at Between Friends Provides individual economic counseling with clients, which includes enrollment, completing an assessment, and collaborating with a client to establish, review, and complete goals on an economic stability plan Leads the clinical meeting once a month and actively participates in case presentations and program-related discussions at the weekly clinical meeting. Facilitates applicable sessions for the agency's 40-hour domestic violence training. Administrative (30%) Maintains updated and accurate case documentation and submits necessary information to the Counseling & Support Services Manager for reporting Enters data into InfoNet database Participates in individual and group clinical supervision Follows all Counseling and Support Services Program policies and procedures to ensure compliance with agency, funder and contract standards/requirements Staffs the crisis line on an as-needed basis Participates in a variety of coalitions and committees to form collaborative responses to domestic violence specifically related to teens Participates in agency events as needed or required Provides services as determined by Board of Director's policies Completes other duties as assigned Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Certification, & Licenses: Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field required Professional license (LSW/LCSW or LPC/LCPC) preferred 40-hour domestic violence training required upon hire Experience & Skills: Two years of experience providing counseling services to individuals, families and/or groups preferred Experience in the field of domestic violence preferred Computer and software knowledge: PC literate with experience in word processing required Languages: Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred Must be committed to Between Friends mission and values, practicing intersectional equity in all facets of the work, and ending all forms of abuse in relationships.
