Your Opportunity as an Operations Engineering Intern
As an intern within Operations, you will work with operating technicians and salaried employees to collect data and learn the manufacturing process to create process improvement opportunities, complete and manage projects, and effectively document and communicate results.
Location: Arkadelphia, AR
Work Arrangements: On-site, 100% in-person expectation
In this role you will:
Work closely with manufacturing technicians on the plant floor to develop process improvement areas and understand manufacturing processes
Coordinate activities of contractors, hourly technicians, and other resources
Prepare standard reports and documentation to communicate results
Manage projects holistically from scope development, capital appropriation, implementation, commissioning, and verification
Collect, analyze, and utilize data to execute improvements while interfacing with salaried employees and technicians to deliver effective initiatives
What we are looking for:
A rising junior or senior standing in school with requisite educational experience in engineering - Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial engineering is preferred.
A well-rounded skill set including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Must be able to work in both an office and plant environment and comply with all safety procedures

Job Description
Job Summary/Objective:
The purpose of Southwire's College Programs is to help early career professionals bring together formal learning and
productive work to improve their ability to transition from school to work. Southwire provides interns and co-ops with
"real world" applications of their academic studies, helpful feedback and coaching, and consideration for employment
after graduation. Each student will have a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects that relate to their field of
study and be responsible for developing a timeline, progress updates, and final delivery in a senior leadership expo.
Note: All new interns and co-ops must begin in the summer rotation.

Key Responsibilities
* Your intern assignment is generally 10-12 weeks, and co-op assignment is generally 16-18 weeks and
will include an assigned project and opportunities to present your work.

leaders, many of whom began as interns and co-ops themselves.
* You will be provided a robust developmental experience through an immersive onboarding and
offboarding experience, assigned a mentor, networking opportunities, organized events, activities, and
community service /volunteer initiatives.
* You will have the opportunity to impact the future of the organization, all the while being exposed to
a world-class program community.
* Finally, our rising senior interns and co-ops are considered for full-time employment opportunities.
Long Description
Project Summary
This position will support the Construction Planning Services team in building Standard Operating Procedures and dashboards to track Opportunities and Projects as they move through our Sales and Production funnel. This individual must be a self-starter, be comfortable working individually and as part of a team, have the ability to proactively identify problems and propose effective solutions, and have excellent communication and analytical skills.
Description of Responsibilities
* Research and identify alternatives, best practices, and solutions for tracking Projects through the Sales and Production Funnel
* Compare and contrast the tools and methods for tracking Projects
* Propose SOPs for Project Tracking for commercial and production
* Work in Salesforce, Microsoft Planner, and other systems to map Project Progression
* Propose metrics and tracking methods for job completions to improve customer satisfaction
* Support internal and external communication through the building of dashboards and trackers
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
* Minimum 2.5 GPA
* Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent
* Proven working experience in a team environment is a plus
* Experience in systems thinking and process management
* Strong organization, planning and analytical skills
* Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
* Reliable transportation to and from work
