Production Supervisor, Baxley, Georgia When you join our team as a Production Supervisor, you will take a leadership role within our Boiler & Kiln department, guiding a skilled team in a highly technical and fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of boiler systems and kiln drying processes while fostering a strong safety culture and driving operational excellence.
What You'll Do
* Provide direct supervision and leadership of crew members to support a 24/7 Boiler and Kiln drying operation.
* Lead the continuous improvement initiative efforts in safety, quality, and productivity at the Boiler and Kiln drying operation.
* Coordinate with maintenance and production personnel at all levels of the site organization to continually strive for operational excellence.
* Provide support and lead the initiative for planning, scheduling, and execution of Planned and Unplanned Boiler/Kiln outages.
* Conduct and implement daily system inspections to identify areas of concern and or opportunities in safety, environmental, housekeeping, and proper operations within the department. Report and resolve noncompliance issues immediately.
* Ensure proper drying and storing operations of in-process lumber products for quality and safety.
* Ensure quality checks with proper documentation are performed and tracked for effectiveness and improvements.
* Ensure proper record-keeping standards are met and filed correctly for reference as needed for safety and environmental compliance audits.
* Ensure all equipment is maintained properly and operating within its design capacities.
* Manage inventories of lumber, chemicals, and spare parts within this department to ensure proper process flow and operation.
What You Offer
* Minimum 3 years of experience of verifiable lumber dry kiln operations experience, preferably with hog fuel boiler systems.
* Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
* Requires working knowledge of kiln mechanics; including but not limited to steam traps, coils, vents, baffles, sensors, structure, and steam delivery systems.
* Requires working knowledge of kiln controllers.
* Ability to develop and apply lumber drying schedules is required.
* Experience drying southern yellow pine preferred.
* Strong analytical abilities and working knowledge of lumber handling and kiln processes.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

* Complete Workforce timekeeping and address exceptions on a daily basis.
* Use any means available to determine first quality yarn, i.e., advice of other supervisors, department managers, or Q.A. personnel.
* If a mix is found, ensure it is handled according to procedure for mixes.
* Upon notification of an entire slack twist package being found by a technician on regular strobe checks, notify the heatset supervisor to look for slack twist on a particular tube color, and notify the Q.A. Technician to inspect for slack twist in the tail of that lot.
* Attempt to find any other slack twist packages off the same machine produced by this position through visual inspection of buggies of yarn in between the processes. If any are found, handle according to strobe check procedures.
* Prepare to work any additional hours on other shifts as needed to work on special assignments as required by department manager.
* If notified by an operator of nonconforming yarn, handle according to procedure. Have technician repair any mechanical problems causing yarn defects

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The FSQ Supervisor directly supervises a team of FSQ Auditors and FSQ Technicians responsible for performing food safety and quality activities as defined by the SQF Quality System at our USDA-inspected meat snacks manufacturing facility. This role facilitates trainings for, coaches, and observes Team Members to ensure that all have the resources and awareness needed to meet our food safety and quality standards. Supporting the FSQ Manager, this role shares responsibilities for our site's HACCP-based food safety system and compliance with regulatory, customer, and company quality requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
Directly supervises a team of FSQ Auditors and FSQ Technicians that perform and document food safety and quality activities within the site
Actively support Team Members on the production floor by signing and verifying processing records and addressing questions
Audit and closely monitor FSQ work procedures to ensure compliance with the programs and policies defined by our site SQF Quality System
Encourage team to lead by example in following food safety and Team Member safety procedures; immediately address situations where safety procedures are not followed
Provide positive coaching for team performance development; communicate site food safety and quality objectives and how Team Members can help to achieve
Maintain attendance and ensure proper staffing is maintained; including interviewing and hiring new Team Members and counseling Team Members about their attendance
Facilitate trainings and meetings with team and across departments to build the behaviors, actions, and awareness needed to meet the high standards of our food safety and quality system
Report and analyze records and data to monitor trends in food safety and quality performance against benchmarks

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

The salary range for this role is $35.21-37.88 (Hourly). Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience.
