COMPENSATION:

The base salary range for this role is $186,880 to $233,600. Our robust time-off policy includes flexible paid time off, 11 paid holidays plus additional time off for a shut-down period during the last week of December, 80 hours of paid sick time upon hire and each year thereafter. As an Excess and Surplus (E&S) carrier, we face unique and interesting challenges every day. We are seeking a Director, Information Technology to join our team; candidates must be able to work Eastern or Central Standard Time Hours.
Primary Function:
The Director of IT is accountable for the strategy, delivery, and continuous improvement of enterprise IT services with a primary emphasis on IT Support, asset management, identity and access management (IAM), SaaS/application administration, and third-party service delivery. This role leads IT service management practices (ITSM) practices, oversees Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and key vendors, and ensures high-quality secure, and compliant IT operations aligned to business objectives.
The Director will overhaul and own operational excellence across the IT support ecosystem including incident / problem management, employee lifecycle enablement (onboarding / offboarding), asset lifecycle, and the optimization of cloud and application spend. The role partners closely with Security Operations, with Upland's distributed IT staff across multiple departments, and business leaders to drive adoption of enterprise-grade technologies, strengthen security controls (including SSO and identity federation), and deliver a consistently exceptional end-user experience.
This leader sets standards, establishes repeatable processes, and communicates clearly, producing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation and executive-ready materials that improve reliability, auditability, and stakeholder confidence.
Duties and Responsibilities of our Director of IT:
Establish measurable service outcomes (SLA attainment, first-contact resolution) and lead continuous improvement initiatives
Define, develop, and deploy an overhaul to the IT Service Desk and Desktop Support operations to improve user experience, operational efficiency, and support scalability.
Analyze support trends and metrics to identify opportunities for automation, self-service, and process optimization
Oversee onboarding / offboarding, device provisioning, device patching, and hardware / software lifecycle processes to ensure speed, consistency, and control
Build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with Security, Technology, Operations, HR, and business leaders to align priorities and ensure service readiness
Lead MSP and vendor performance management, including SLA / KPI governance, quarterly business reviews, and remediation plans as needed.
Own vendor contracts, renewals, licensing, and subscription management to ensure uninterrupted service delivery and favorable commercial outcomes
Lead IAM Operations and improvements, including SSO implementations, identity federation, role-based access, and access governance
Own active management of cloud spending and application/licensing spend, partnering with Finance to improve transparency, forecasting, and cost governance.

Conduct quarterly users access reviews for in-scope systems, and support audit compliance and monitoring
Serve as the application administrator for enterprise applications not supported or managed by the MSP provider, ensuring proper configuration, access control, and operational continuity

Experience, Education, Special Skills Required from our Director, Information Technology:
Bachelor's degree and/or Master's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
5-8 years progressive IT experience, including leadership in enterprise IT Operations and support functions
Experience in insurance or regulated financial services strongly preferred; familiarity with non-admitted carriers a plus
Expertise in Jira Service Management
Strong expertise in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and modern identity patterns (SSO, federation, MFA)
Working knowledge of cloud architectures, cloud networking concepts, and cloud security principles

Oversees all IT-related purchasing and budget usage; works with Finance Director to develop and implement annual IT budget. Develops and implements long-range purchasing program for hardware and software.
Assures the security of the computer systems and plans disaster recover protocols.
Manages the e-mail functions and coordinates with other staff members for website function.
Researches, designs, and implements voice and data networks.
Troubleshoots hardware and software problems for upgrade, repair, or replacement.
Assists parks and work units with their computer, telephone and networking needs.
Reviews and sets up service contracts for technology and telephone systems.
Oversees and directs telecommunications and technology consultants and vendors.
Creates and executes project work plans. Manages project scope or requirement changes. Manages multiple and competing demands while determining the impact on time and budget. Revises plans as appropriate to meet changing requirements of projects.
Develops and implements policies and procedures as related to information technology.
Researching emerging technology for possible future needs.
Provides training to Metro Parks' staff relating to information technology in a language easy to understand for non-technical individuals.
Supervises information technology staff including approving leave requests, conducting performance evaluations, establishing goals, administering discipline if warranted, and assigning projects/work.
Qualifications
Education/Experience: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field and significant experience providing information technology services in an organization or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Demonstrated understanding of computer security systems.
Broad knowledge of the various aspects of voice and data technologies.
Strong understanding of complex computer structures and the ability for repair, upgrade, replacement, or re-installation to computer systems or network control devices.
Ability to create training programs, internal systems and editable documents.
Must have a thorough knowledge of the organization's software to assist users in problem resolution.
Language Skills: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to coworkers, other professionals, the general public, Franklin County Data Center, and public officials; ability to explain technical information in everyday language which non-technical people can understand; ability to train others. Ability to deal with and defuse difficult, stressful situations calmly.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform math related to budgets, contracts, reports, etc. consistent with the essential functions of the position. Ability to proofread technical materials, recognize errors and make corrections.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and develop appropriate recommendations to resolve identified problems; ability to gather, collate and classify information about data, people, and things. Ability to design and produce concise and accurate reports that provide management with meaningful data for decision-making. Uses critical and systems thinking.
Licenses, Registrations: Possession of a valid Ohio driver license, insurable by Metro Parks' insurance carrier, and ability to conform to the driving standards policy.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods of time, walk/move, talk and hear. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to key data, etc. Lifting of computer equipment is regularly required during service activities.
Work Environment: The employee regularly works in an office environment, but is required to work in outdoor weather conditions as needed to address networking, outdoor camera, and telephone line, etc. issues. Outdoor work may occur in extreme weather conditions. The employee is required to travel to parks throughout the District and to other locations as necessary.
