Key Responsibilities:

Prepares clear, complete and accurate working plans and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes. Coordinates, maintains and continuously improves revision control systems.
Develop required I/E scope of works for the project implementation.
Assist engineering to keep engineering electronic documents in job files organized.
Generates final sketch of proposed drawing(s), checking dimensions, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
Develop identify cable termination points and creates drawings accordingly.
Develop plans for cable tray, conduit, and instrument tube routing.
Perform calculations such as voltage drop, conduit fill, cable tray sizing, etc
Prepare I/E packages for proper MOC package content.
Responsibilities
Identify deficiencies for the I&E portion of the documentation process from beginning of the MOC process until final documentation is turned over to be published.
Become familiar with instrument and electrical equipment used onsite.
Become familiar with the requirements of the National Electric Code (NFPA 70)
Understand method of filling electronic documentation and become fluent in locating plant documentation.
Assist engineering prepare for turnaround and/or plant shutdown activities as needed
Continually evaluate ways to improve site safety.
Education Requirements
High school education or equivalent with basic drafting technology from a vo-tech or other applicable program with a minimum of five years of technical work experience. As an alternative, a minimum of two years of education in an associate or bachelor's degree program for the relevant discipline and 5 plus years of experience in I/E Design

What You'll Do
The Designer - Substation is responsible for supporting substation design projects across the QISG platform by performing routine 2D/3D Physical and/or Protection & Control (P&C) design tasks. This role requires working knowledge of basic design techniques and industry procedures, with an emphasis on accuracy, standards compliance, and CAD proficiency.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong familiarity with substation materials, construction methods, and utility design standards. Proficiency with CAD platforms-including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Map 3D, Inventor, and Substation Design Suite (SDS) for Physical and/or P&C applications-is preferred. The Designer will work under the direction of a Lead Designer and collaborate closely with engineers and drafting teams to develop and maintain quality drawing packages for both internal and client-facing deliverables.
Work on design aspects from project inception to completion on various substation projects.
Utilize 3D and/or smart design software for substation design.
Demonstrate knowledge of quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship.
Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work.
Research information in catalogs, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference material.
Learn and properly use the document management system and suggest improvements.
Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices.

Associates degree in Drafting & Design or equivalent certification is preferred. A 4-year Eng Tech degree is a plus.
