Job Title: Quality Inspector

Description:
Responsible for performing and recording dimensional and visual inspection of parts, assemblies, and final product in coordination with the Engineering, Production, and Manufacturing Engineering departments.
Responsibilities:
Conduct all levels of product inspections using a variety of inspection instruments and equipment (e.g. CMM, micrometers, calipers, parallels, sine bars, height masters, optical comparator, Johnson gauges, etc.)
Verify compliance of finished hardware with drawing requirements based on shop practices as they relate to unfinished hardware.
Perform both detailed, assembly-level drawings with appropriate supporting documentation verifying actual results against drawing and/or specification requirements.
Correctly read and interpret detailed, assembly-level drawings and customer specifications.
Use shop mathematical calculations relative to the complexity of the project (e.g., GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, calculations for areas, angles, lengths, etc.)
Execute formal first article reports to AS9102 standards.
Mentor inspectors, as needed.
Use statistical process control (SPC) symbols and tools along with correct interpretation of associated control plans and charts.
Meet deadlines of assigned jobs while maintaining the integrity of the position.
Work closely with customer representatives during source inspections and audits.
Seek lean process improvements.
Requirements:
High school diploma/GED
1 year certificate from college or technical school OR 3-5 years related experience and/or training

Perform calibration on complex multi‐function electronic measuring and test equipment.
Set‐up calibration test conditions having various circuit requirements interpreting calibration procedures, specifications, manufacturer's instructions, or related documents.
Ability to interpret drawings and electronic schematics.
Document and evaluate historical data to determine calibration intervals.
Diagnose and calibrate newly acquired complex electronic equipment.
NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST:
Perform daily, weekly and monthly equipment and material checks. Perform pre‐inspection and post‐inspection cleaning.
Set‐up equipment and conduct tests.
Interpret, evaluate and document inspection results in accordance with approved procedures.
Perform complete inspections in accordance with applicable specifications, standards and other contractual documents.
Operate X‐ray equipment and film processor.

Job Requirements:
Five years related inspection experience or demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities. Knowledge of applicable military standards or specifications.
Required experience in CMM operations, background in dimensioning and tolerancing per ANSI Y 14.5. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, customer's specifications and internal drawings and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of machine shop mathematics including trigonometry. Knowledge of electro‐hydraulic servo systems and the computer IEEE systems. Personal hand tools may be required.

Position Responsibilities:

Coordinate and complete travelers, investigating and clearing check orders as necessary.
Initiate Inspection Record Change Requests (IRCR) and/or Shipside Action Trackers (SAT) as needed.
Ensure that certifications for tools, test equipment, and personnel are current and compliant.
Assist other employees by providing information and answering questions regarding functions, methods, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience in reading Navy shipbuilding blueprints/drawings and interpreting material specifications.
Strong knowledge of shipbuilding processes, materials, and quality control requirements.
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify and document defects or non-conformities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Position Summary
The NDT Inspector - TIGER Team serves as a critical member of Trident Maritime Systems' Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technician team and functions as the front line of Quality Assurance under the primary direction of Joe Ruiz, QA Manager, and secondary oversight of Joel Carroll, Program Manager of Quality Control. This position ensures that Trident's products meet all NAVSEA, Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS), and Trident QA standards through precise, disciplined inspection and documentation practices. The Inspector demonstrates strong self-leadership, motivation, and accountability, upholding the highest level of professionalism within the QA department. The NDT Inspector performs Visual Testing (VT & VT Level II), Magnetic Particle (MT), Liquid Penetrant (PT), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) inspections across ship structures and modular fabrications supporting CVN, VCS/ORP, and DDG programs. This position supports both new construction and overhaul efforts across in-harbor production, shipyard projects, and unit completion evaluations, ensuring compliance, documentation integrity, and inspection readiness.
Responsibilities
• Perform VT (Visual Testing) and VT Level II inspections on welds, components, and structures to verify conformance with NAVSEA and NNS standards.
• Conduct MT (Magnetic Particle), PT (Liquid Penetrant), and UT (Ultrasonic Testing) inspections in accordance with Trident QA procedures.
• Review, interpret, and execute inspection procedures, standards, and engineering drawings.
• Document inspection results and maintain OQE records in compliance with NAVSEA/NNS requirements.

• Provide in-process inspection support during fitting, welding, and final assembly operations.

Requirements
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 5-7 years of NDT experience within shipyard or heavy industrial environments supporting NAVSEA or NNS programs.
• Must hold or be able to obtain NDT Level II certification in Visual Testing (VT II), with proven experience in Magnetic Particle (MT) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) inspection methods per NAVSEA Technical Publication T9074-AS-GIB-010/271.
• Demonstrated proficiency in performing and interpreting MT and UT inspections in production settings.
• Familiarity with ISO, NAVSEA QA documentation and OQE practices.
• Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings accurately.
• Capable of working in confined spaces, elevated areas, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

**Position Overview**
Perform visual and functional inspections of aircraft and components during all phases of maintenance as assigned by Inspection Management.
+ Inspecting aircraft and components in accordance with instructions for continued airworthiness, reviewing inspection requirements scope and detail, completing visual and mechanical inspections of assigned aircraft areas.
