Highlights:
Summary: The Sleep Technician will work under the general supervision of the Manager, as well as the Lead Technologist. This individual will perform a wide variety of polysomnographic studies. The Technician will analyze data, score polysomnograms, and compile data into a report for physician review. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.
Education / Experience: High school graduate or equivalent required. At least one prior year of direct contact patient care preferred. EEG, LPN, EMT, Respiratory Therapist, or previous sleep experience preferred. As required by the AASM standards enroll in the A-STEP online self study program within two weeks of hire and complete the program within the given AASM deadline. Prefer proficiency in the principles of polysomnography and electroencephalography.
License / Certification: BLS required, ACLS preferred

Rotations through high-acuity ED zones including trauma bays, fast-track, and critical care pods
Simulation-based training for emergency scenarios, rapid response, and triage decision-making
IV insertion, airway management, trauma & wound care, and emergencymedication administration
Direct mentorship and preceptorship from seasoned ED nurses
Interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other emergency care professionals
Upon completion, fellows will be equipped to function independently in all areas of the ED.

A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the Practice Manager for Bronson Sleep Lab or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. A Polysomnographic Technologist can perform the duties defined for a Polysomnographic Technician and may provide supervision of other staff. Performs other related duties as assigned. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Associate's degree in Polysomnography; or successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one year duration associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technician, and Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or equivalent required (must be in good standing and valid in the state of Michigan).

Perform Polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact free and make adjustments, if necessary.
Document routine observations including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
Implement appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc).
Follow "lights on" procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process (repeats the physiological and instrument calibrations and instructs the patient on completing questionnaires, etc.)
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Oversees and performs difficult and unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.
Score sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines.
Score clinical events (such as respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals etc.) according to specific protocols.
Generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.
Perform routine and complex equipment care and maintenance.
Evaluate sleep study related equipment and inventory.
Demonstrate effective written and spoken communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience:

The Laboratory Department is looking for a Phlebotomist to join our growing team. The Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing quality blood samples from patients, preparing those specimens for lab testing, and completing clerical duties in a timely manner to maintain the department efficiently. Responsibilities will include order entry, result look-up, report generation, and answering internal/external calls in a friendly and helpful manner.
Essential Functions:

Care for patients with a variety of acute to critical medical/surgical problems ranging from neonates to geriatrics at various developmental levels. Patients are from both traditional and nontraditional family structures with a variety of sociocultural and educational backgrounds
1. Provides patient personal care/hygiene and physical comfort within assigned tasks, including feeding, bathing, shaving, changing clothes, bed making, ambulation, lifting, turning, moving, transferring, enemas, skin care and bowel/bladder elimination. Provides such additional care as required to meet the personal primary needs and comfort of assigned patients based on skill, ability, and patient acuity. Prepares patients, equipment and supplies for specific procedures/examinations.
2. Performs, monitors, reports and documents all clinical activities within assigned tasks. Observes and reports changes in patient condition to the RN.
3. Assists nursing staff in the admission, discharge and transfer of patient by performing activities such as inventory/storing patient belongings, providing patient with relevant personal care/comfort items, orienting patient/family and transporting patient to room or other location using wheelchairs, stretchers or patient bed.
4. Provides patient information to nursing staff for inclusion in the interdisciplinary plan of care; documents relevant patient data in accordance with work unit standards.
5. Maintains a neat and organized work environment. Orders, stocks and replenishes supplies and equipment as necessary, identifies and reports problems with supplies or equipment; enters equipment repair request in system, tags equipment and removes from service.
6. Participates in quality assurance/improvement initiatives and activities. Participates in growth opportunities.
7. Actively participates in ongoing education and orientation to the role of an RN, remaining within scope at all times.
**Job Requirements**
+ Current enrollment and in good standing in a full time Nursing Program such as an accredited Baccalaureate Nursing Program or RN Associate Degree program or LPN to RN nursing program.
+ Active Nurse Aide (CNA) license in good standing in Nebraska
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association
